Bush's security stuns Indians

The Indian security establishment is having a harrowing time providing support to the American personnel responsible for United States President George W Bush's security in India.

The Americans make their own arrangements wherever their president travels.

They have a simple dictum: Trust no one.

They transfer tons of equipment, almost-science-fiction technology and highly trained manpower to protect the most powerful man in the world.
President Bush arrives on March 1. And yet, as of now, plans of his visit are almost a secret.

Massive security arrangements are being made, keeping in view the threat from Osama bin Laden's terror network.

Even though you would naturally expect the security concerns, the sheer scale, sophistication and budget of it boggles the mind.

Besides Air Force One -- in which the President travels -- more than a dozen aircraft will arrive in New Delhi from the US and different parts of world.

More than 700 personnel -- including American security forces -- are being flown in. Some with Bush, and some even from other countries.

Three presidential helicopters -– which are equipped with cutting edge landing systems that help them operate in near zero visibility -– have been flown in by cargo carriers in a disassembled state. They are being put together piece by piece.

Indian security officials were stunned to see the packaging and the sophisticated transportation of the helicopters.

The kind of communication equipment being brought to fit into Bush's vehicle would not look out of place in a Star Wars film.

A special window is being set up at Delhi airport to clear American equipment for the Bush visit. Special permissions are being given for the huge quantities of arms and ammunition being flown in by the American 'advance teams.'

Bush has about eight official engagements scheduled in India. And eight special teams have been constituted to protect Bush -– one for each programme.

A closely guarded strategy is being worked out for the landing of the President's aircraft.

A full security drill is likely to take place at the Palam Air Force Base after February 27.

On Monday, February 20, at about 10 am, two senior US embassy security officials visited the Central Hall of the Parliament carrying a sketch of the security arrangements made for Bill Clinton when he addressed a joint session six years ago.

Since the Communist parties have opposed Bush's proposed address to a joint session of Parliament, the Americans didn't spend much time inside Parliament.

So far, there is no confirmation of the American president's speech to Parliament.

Sources said Petroleum Minister Murli Deora has been asked to cajole Communist leaders opposed to the Bush speech.

This is like half an invasion.

Make sure thE US arent deciding to take over India.

2 for his security. 698 to kill chickens along his way !!

^^haha..i think the 2 guys are for his security and the remaining 678 to stop him from stumbling and falling...:P You know every now n then you recieve news about dubya toppling over a horse in his texas ranch, ramming a bicycle into a police man..believe me there have atleast 4 such cases of Dubya stumbling and falling in public reported in news around the world...:P

Haha..a man who has problems keeping on his feet, who repeatedly gives dumb(the dumbest among all US presidents) speeches, is the most powerful person in this world..what an irony..

Thats crap dude.... what do you mean who would wanna....
Did you know India is the third most sought after market in the world for investments :cool2: :cool2:

A poll was conducted by Forbes... asking ppl where they would invest their money in the international market....

First is China 22%
Second Canada 18%
Third India 16 or something

the next best after india was like 5% or something....

So please dont talk rubbish... :@ :@

Edit: Sorry for getting hyper... its demeaning when you talk like that...

Well, wanting to invest in India is very different from wanting to take over India.

In that I agree with Goldie.

lol.... obviously..... India may be bad in some ways but we are light years ahead of them and Bangladesh :P

^^ Lol...

What i mean is, if USA takes over India, the poverty will overwhelm USA also.

USA's economy will also fall to Indias level :P.

actaully thats not the case... why do you think india was colonized by british before because of its resources (gold, diamond etc even if not these at least something that British saw interesting...)

my post means india is proving its worth again by being valuable but in a different way.... so why wouldtnt someone want to dominate India (indirect version of Taking over)

The second one i want to emphasize is... you are posting in some public forum which is viewable by anyone from any part of the world if they have access to net.... So you think its wise to diss about your own country???

Think abt it

I am not dissing my country. every country has it's good and bad points. it is just that today, we seem to be seeing India more in a -ve light after the verdict in the Jessica Lal murder case.

There are many good things abt India. It is jus that we have a lot of work to do if that has to be more prominent than the bad parts.

And anyway your point abt US wanting to take over does not make sense. The MNCs are already making money off India. Pizza Hut, Dominoes, MCDonalds, KFC, Ford, etc...etc...too many to name here.

So, why will they want to saddle themselves with the added responsibility of taking care of everything else in India??

I am not saying US wants to take over India - if thats what you get out of reading my post....guess i should have reframed it.... it was stated in general and all i am saying is... India is in a much better position rightnow. So passing comments like 'Who wouldnt want to...etc' is not a good one...

Cases with verdicts like Jessica Lal murder case is common in lots of countries. Lots of crazy things happen in lots of countries.

The point is ...please do not pass comments just like that... choose words carefully before putting them when your talking abt something as sensitive as religion, your country etc... cos it would create a bad opinion... i'm sure u know what i mean...

lool looks like somejust did a dubya :P :P one dumb line and a whole lot of pointless conversation :P

btw are the security guards gonna be stripped seached so as to know that they arent really spies?? :P :P

or maybe they shal jsut start the whole process with dubyaman ;)

Hey buddy, we are just having a light conversation here..nothing serious..there's nothing as dissing our country or something...why make a mountain out of a mole hill...;)

Even after being the world's supposedly most advanced country, the americans make fun of their country and dubya but when there is a catastrophe (like 9/11) they all stand as one...same is the case with our and for that matter every other country...we all love our country as much as you do...so take it easy.. :)

Well, even i didnt mean to Diss my own country.

But just look at the state of it. Its just pissing off. Id rather not have the idiotic Bush come here, than him coming with 700 Guards.

What they think india is so unsafe? Well, then dont come here.

I feel safer on the streets of India at even 2 am, rather than anywhere abroad at even 10pm.
