^ cant you even read the source? Its from Microsoft itself and its available in more than a hundred countries. What a troll! :|
Its a good way for people who buy laptops or pc's from Dell, etc to upgrade to a full version of Windows 8 Pro for Rs 699. Probably the pro version will cost more than 8k at launch.

Don't think I'll 'upgrade' from 7 to 8 (just pike I didn't from XP to vista). Sadly don't feel Its worth it. W7 does it for me.

no. i have legit windows 7 copy too. but this offer is for people who buy windows 7 along with new pc after June 2nd 2012, so they can upgrade to a newer version with less cost compared to people who bought before. Summary is, you need to buy a pc/laptop having windows 7 on it after june 2nd to avail this offer.

I haven't seen the CP release of Win8, but seems like they have removed almost everything from it. Like Aero, start button, Media Center... Probably, this pro version would have Media Center in it.

Good for people buying netbooks in around 25k. upgrade to win8 pro on it instead of win7 home or basic.

its a nice offer, but the history is against windows 8.

every alternate product from windows family had failed miserably and windows 8 is in line for being a dud. :P there was one cartoon image too on internet about it, so I will stay away from it till it proves itself. :P

^+1 . Doc, so true. Will wait it out. 6pack nice initiative to get others will informed. Thanks. I was planning to get a laptop for my mum and now will revise.

Win8 feels like it's solely aimed for tablets & mobiles. Desktop users are getting a raw deal. For those of us with large monitors (17"+), the screenspace will be just wasted with the kiddie Metro UI.

I was mildly curious in a macbook pro at the verge of the release of Mac OS Lion and had asked the CSR whether I will get Lion if I buy the macbook pro now. She said anyone who buys a mac now will get a free Lion update on release. Wonder why MS will charge for an upgrade when people can simply wait and get a PC with win 8 in oct/nov?

OT, I have tried Win 8 consumer preview and got rid of it pretty soon. Have there been any updates to make it less sucky?

They must be trying to motivate PC makers to keep churning out Windows 7 PCs. Windows 8 is solely aimed at tablets and there is no point running it on a non-touchscreen device. After all the droolworthy tablets/netbooks/laptops demoed by ASUS and ACER at Computex, I just cannot wait to get my hands on one when it finally releases by the end of the year. I've been yearning for a 11.6' or a 13.3' touchscreen Ultrabook since a long time.

True! I have tried Win8 beta and I am not happy after using it few days. I would stick with Windows7, Windows8 is not for me.

Well I think we can try it when its final build is out and then quote on its effectiveness on laptops/netbooks. So far on tablets it looks gud.
