just wanted to ask a quick question about this.. i'm going abroad in a few days and i'm wondering if i can buy a k750i or a nokia 6630 over here and use it in Canada. would anyone know if it would work fine or if i'll have to get it unlocked or something? i know most people would suggest buying over there but my parents want me to finish as much shopping as possible over here and spend only on my daily expenses over there. any suggestions?

Don't confuse him further :D Ashwath, get a phones with your connection in Canada... they come insured too. Even if they stop working, replacements arrive overnight :D

you might need a quad band phone in some areas

You don't require quad band phone in Canada.

K750 supports GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900
6630 supports GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900

Operators in Canada:

ICE Wireless Inc supports GSM 1900
Microcell Telecommunications Inc (Fido) supports GSM 1900

Rogers Wireless Inc supports GSM 850/1900

well lets just say im getting a phone for free :P will i need to unlock it first or will i just be able to use it as it is after locating a GSM provider?

well, as other have stated... u can very well use the phone there itself... although i dont know the electricity regulations voltages there, so better look into that ..

Although i would go with Rio's suggestion of getting the phone and the operator there itlself...
