PC Peripherals buy the RAM or not ?

Hi ,
my dealer has given me Transcend DDR400 sealed pack RAM of 512MB which is SAMSUNG UCCC chips (URL ) . memory latency is 3-3-3 . its original and comes with 3 years warranty . my dealer is selling it for 2600 rupees . should I buy it or not ? I cant overclock my stupid mobo . TwinMOS 512MB sells in Chennai at 1900 rs .

Hmm most of transcend sticks are rated at 2.5-3-3
In any case wait for other replies. Also you wont be able to OC the Intel mobo much in anycase.
 
You can get transcend 1GB sticks with sammy UCCC for 3.9K. Your dealer is ripping you off. Also with that mobo, any ram that does higher than ddr400 is useless anyway.

@ aces its the 512 meg sticks that are rated @ 2.5-3-3 the 1 gig ones are 3-3-3.
the 865GBF is a POS AFA OC'ing goes. The UCCC is good and I've seen some guys do a sweet OC. I did 225 MHz on mine once :ohyeah:
 
first of all , my fsb is 533mhz . so I cant do DDR400 . DDR333 is what my ram runs . it says PC3200/64Mx8/3-3-3 . No no I just got the pack I have not bought it yet . I told him i will check up on the internet and will tell him later . seems like this RAM is useless to my mobo . I know overclocking with this is cool but atm with this 865gbf no chance.

Meaningless to argue between cl2.5 and 3.0 really... cos both will do 2.5 easily. However to get the best results, UCCC needs to be set at 3-4-4. Even el cheapo transcend should do 250 at those timings.

this RAM says 3-3-3 and also you can check on the URL i had posted originally

Then get micron 5bd sticks... those will easily do 2-2-2 at DDR333.

I already have Hynix (prolly double-sided ram ) 512MB module which on the chip says D43 . its original Hynix D43 . I will be opening this pack up and see whether both can run on dual channel or not . seems like memory bandwidth from this Samsung UCCC chips are higher than Infineon CE-5 or something like that .

should I buy this RAM or not ? 2600rs or TwinMOS 512MB(1900rs) ??
 
Ideally for your intel i865 m/b get low latency rams...for e.g. which does 2-3-3-6 @ 200mhz actual or 400 mhz DDR.
since you cannot manually raise the fsb on that m/b beyond 200mhz it is pointless getting a ram which will do 230 or 240 mhz at higher latencies of say 2.5 (3) - 3-3-8

since ur cpu has 533 mhz fsb ur rams must be doing 533 /4 = 133 mhz ...unless there is a provision on the m/b bios to run the memory async with the cpu fsb....

in any case if you are planning to sell this m/b + cpu and go in for an AMD based system in the near future then you should go in for this UCCC modules keeping the future in mind. but try to get them @ 2.0 ~ 2.1K max ....2.6K is way too high for these 512mb uccc modules.
 
I was quoted 3.8-4.0k for 2x512 Transcend with samsung UCCC by 3 diff dealers on the phone, a couple of weeks back when i was thinking of picking up Dhiman's twinmos!!

So it is definitely that price or lower if you bargain in person, face to face!!

I would say price for single 512 stick Transcend, with 3 yrs warranty= 1.9k odd (+/-) 100/-!!

Twinmos, 2x512= 3.6K on phone!!

p.s. Prices courtesy LR, Andheri, Borivali!!
 
Yeah saiyan and some more prices here

512MB TwinMos MTec chips = Rs 1750

512MB Transcend UCCC chips = Rs 2000

512MB Transcend Jetram chips = Rs 1900

Raghu , TwinMOS ram are double sided or not ? I have rejected this RAM because its single-sided and gave me poor performance(benchmarks) I dont know why . TwinMOS MTec are good ah?
my Hynix 512MB D43 module is double-sided . therefore I need another similar double-sided so that I could run them in dual channel mode ..

thats what I said . I rejected Transcend 512MB Sammy UCCC chips .

my dealer told me that double-sided RAM are find to hard it seems .. change of production it seems??
