Buying 2nd hand cpu and mobo! Need suggestions!

Hey all, I am thinking of buying a 2nd hand cpu and mobo (Intel or Amd) because I need to replace my existing PIII and 815 Mobo. I am looking at 865 and nForce 2 chipset based mainboards as they have agp slot and ddr ram support. I feel they are pretty powerful too :hap2:. How much can I pay for these rigs? I feel these rigs come cheap since they are pretty old now a days. I am on a very tight budget so please give me your valuable suggestions on the price. Any suggestion would be of great help :hap2:.
 
my neighbour has a amd athlon 64 2800 socket 754 based on a gigabyte via k800 chipset with agp slot and 2 ddr1 ram slots with 512mb ddr1. it works properly. u want it?
 
Whoa... why would you want to buy a 865 board and a AGP based board today !!!!

Until you quote a budget however less it may be it is very difficult to give a suggestion...

You might even be able to make a cheapo rig for about 6,000 (CPU+Mobo+RAM)...
 
Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I cannot buy a new rig at the moment because it is simply unaffordable. I have to get the house earthing repaired in order to use a new rig. Also, I have already purchased 2GB DDR and Agp card some 1.5 years back :S. I cant let it go waste...so, any other suggestions? How much will the below rig (2nd hand) cost me?

1. Intel P4 3Ghz and 865 chipset motherboard.
2. Amd Athlon XP 3200+ and nForce 2 chipset motherboard.

Well I have a spare 3Ghz HT with intel 915GBLV system spare, with RAM(512+256+256+128),

i have seen people sellling theri age old P4 rig mobo+CPU for astonishing prices..@virus32win...how come you expect the seller to offer all this within 1.5k?it would be difficult for such low cost..also 1GB DDR RAM alone people are selling for not less than 1k&alongwith that CPU+mobo..:huh:

1GB DDR Second hand==600/-

Any socket 462/754/478 MB=500/- (add 200~300 more for Socket 775/939 MB with DDR1 memory controllers)

Any CPU like P4/Cel. 1.7/2.0/2.4Ghz (478 Socket) or Athlon 1700+ /2000+/2400+ (Socket A /754)=400/-

Now Grand Total======================== 1500/- :)
 
One of my friend's selling his Intel C2D E7200+ASUS P5N-E Sli+2x1GB DDR2 800MHz Transcend for 6.5K.. If interested let me know..

err....1GB DDR for 0.6k?:huh: members selling P4 rig for not less than 2.5k..Old AthlonXP processors were much sought after as compared to socket 478 also much better performers...are you by any chance deal with secondhand dealer?:P
 
U can get P4 1.8ghz + original intel fan + gigabyte 845 mobo in excellent working condition [1500/-]

i suggest u to go 4 p4 instead of PIII because of great speed difference.

ALso u can get intel atom cpu embedded on 945 mobo for now with 3yrs intel warranty [3250/-]
