Hi friends,

I am going to buy a laptop in the coming month of June as I would be discarding my current laptop which Wipro given to me on a corporate basis. Please suggest me a Laptop. I have a bugdet of around 30K.

I won't be doing a lot of gaming but games like NFS (MW, Undercover), Prince of Persia series etc. can be played by me. let me know wht should be the horse power required for this. I would be doing lot developing work like Java, Java Beans (Eclipse) and Sharepoint, Dot as well.

would be doing lot of vmware (virtual machine work) instead of running multiple OS.
Thanks in Advance.

Faisal

One of my friend has with Quad Core in it. Inspiron M501R is a very good laptop by Dell It is VFM by dell but the problem he told was it heated a lot. And i would be doing the work like 18hrs a day. so could it handle it give me some idea. and wht abt the gfx power ATI HD 550v is it comparable to HD 4670. (will the game run at 1280X720). with medium quality. Multi threaded applications would run fine on Inspiron 15R but it doesn't include a good gfx. wht abt the laptops from hp- compaq stable.

I guess you will have to delay somewhat more for Ilano based laptops. If Wikipedia is right. the article you shared might be talking of desktops. Besides even if they do launch it in june, the laptops based on it would probably take some more time to come to market. Finally such products are typically launched a bit late in indian market. So if you are thinking of waiting, prepare for 2-3 mnths delay !!

But somehow it might effect the market and their would be price drop of some products in the market if the rumour mills are to be believed.

I think your budget of 30K is far too less for the kind of work you are going to do on it. IDEs do require a lot of RAM and processing power.

Same for VMs, it will need both good processing power and RAM. RAM of 2GB will be sufficient only if you are going to run Win2K/WinXP/Few flavours of Linux as VM. That will surely make the price go beyond your budget even if are able get it from US or some place like that.
