So i am gonna be buying this LCD led tc tomorrow, i just need a quick view on somethings.

So i am looking to buy the Panasonic LCD LED.
Panasonic Viera TH-P42A20D

I need some in depth information as to what some things in the description meant.

In the Bad:
No support for NTFS filesystem, can't decode H.264 video, noise reduction is not the best.
What does that mean, cant decode H.264?

My primary purpose would be to play 1080p videos from my computer, through the graphic card (GTX 285) which has a HDMI port.

Quote:
Y (AVCHD*/DivXHD/SD-VIDEO*/JPEG/MP3/AAC playback) (SDXC/SDHC compatible)

Why no .mkv file support?

More info:
Model No - Panasonic VIERA TH-L42D25

I just want a verdict whether i should buy this or not, and is this good for playing 1080p through my computer

at the end you have to decide if you want the tv or not...

regarding its ability to play 1080p from computer via hdmi, the card will send 1080p signal to the tv but the Panasonic VIERA TH-P42A20D is 720p only so it will not display full HD but Panasonic VIERA TH-L42D25 will...however you will be able to view the video at 720p resolution...

"can't decode H.264" means if such media is placed in plug and play device and attached to computer it will not be able to play it..however it does not mean that if you play via computer then it will not play..the mkv container is processed in the computer and the hdmi sends the signal for display..in this case its the computer processing the mkv container rather than the tv...

no support for NTFS also applies to plug and play USB media and not the computer partitioning from which you will be playing the videos.

hope this helps..

Oh shit, i actually did mean VIERA TH-L42D25, copied from the wrong source, when i read your post i was like, wtf, a 90,000rs LED LCD plays only 720p, lol, typo error.

After searching a bit, i found another option LG 42LE7500, so which do you think is a better pick?:huh::huh:

The price for both the products is almost the same.

maybe you should take some more time rather than jumping from one brand to another & taking decision at the 11th hour.

Thats the thing, am moving to a new house in 4 days, so i don't really have the time to browse different brands. Am gonna have to buy a TV tomorrow.

Ex 700 is currently out of production, and is not available anywhere here. Mainly I'd like to go for the LG / Panasonic because a buddy of mine has the dealership of both of em, and i will get 150-250$ off if i buy from him. Also the Sony TV's look plain old boring.
