We are in market to replace our fridge. Currently we have Kelvinator 165 Liters direct cooling fridge which is I think around 24 years or more. It still works very well and my dad says he has spent only Rs. 125 on this fridge (for repainting few years back) and nothing on repairing ever.
But now we require a bigger one.
As of now I am considering only LG and Samsung brand. LG is more preferred.
The one we have selected for now is a 360 Liters steel/silver finish LG.
I think this is the one...

MRP is around 42K but final price with discount and exchange of our fridge we are getting is around 38500 from Vijay sales.

Any other suggestion ?
We are looking for preferably steel finish ones.

LG should always be your most preferred always!

Good choice but check online stores. They may offer same price for higher end model.

And Remember -
Never purchase from Reliance,Croma,etc. stores.

They always have old stock and in service LG doesn't provide quick service.

I bought a 4 star Whirlpool 360l fridge from Reliance a month back for about Rs.27500 (on exchange). It was an older model, and I was given a 2 year additional warranty with it. If you bargain with Reliance, they'll give you a really good price for your old fridge as well as the max discount allowed plus an additional warranty.

Croma had some really good deals on 310-330l fridges that time. They were available for about Rs.21000-25000.

I chose the Whirlpool as it had the smallest freezer, and most space on the side-shelves. However, I had a 210L single door fridge before, and could store more bottles/cans in the door rack in it than I can in my new fridge.
The usable space of a 360l fridge is actually ~ 330l. And about 20-30% of that is the freezer. So effectively you only get about 240-270l.

I'm sure you can get a better price than the one you've been quoted. If not for an LG, then for some other brand. They all come with a 10yr warranty on the compressor, so IMO they're pretty much all the same.
If you can wait a couple of months, then buy it during Diwali. I'm sure you'll get much better deals then.

I agree with you, we can only trust LG and Whirlpool refrigerators which are value to money.. Rest Samsung and all are pretty pricey.
This Whirlpool 340 litres NEO IC 355 is what we brought . When we compared to LG 335 litres GL-D372RLJM we found that both the things were very similar, we only chose the Whirlpool freeze because it was 2 k less than LG and we got extra 5 litres of space :)

I am not waiting for the diwali and such offers as I have usually seen that prices are jacked up and then discount given. No point waiting for that and also discount is on certain models only.
I have seen the fridge only in Vijay sales till now. There is no reliance digital near my home in Mumbai but we have a croma.
I will be going to croma and reliance digital in Pune here just to have a look at the options and prices.

I have no idea what the prevailing prices are as of now for fridges. Our requirement is double door (no triple door) fridge.

Same boat, kelvinator bought in '78. When i told the guy from the shop we got it, must have been his dad who sold it. he was surprised. How could it last this long.

Simple.

it can be repaired indefinitely.

Oh can you do this with anything you buy today ? no

So i don't want to get rid of that old relic.

I have those words alarming at my Ears told by a Person who came to repair my Electrolux fridge. Never buy Whirlpool or Electrolux again, its very difficult to repair and to procure parts from markets.
Our 7 year old fridge had 3 Compressors changed.
LG, Samsung and Godrej Refrigerators are always Good according to servicing people. All have Good after sales. Decision is up to you.

Cheers.

I have a 555 Liters Sharp double door bought in 2010. Works like a charm and the service is good too. I bought it from Borivali Vijay Sale for ~48k back then.

Has anyone bought a fridge online ? From sites like snapdeal and such ? I believe it is 3rd party / market place sellers which sells the fridge.
But how does it work actually ? Also will they delivery till my home (it is on 3rd floor without lift) ?
