Buying Advice Needed: ASUS G73SW-A1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop

Hi people,

I am looking to buy the ASUS G73SW-A1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop from over at Amazon.

This will be shipped to my grandpa at US who will get it for me. I need your opinions about this laptop. All opinions are welcome, including and not limited to:

1. Warranty - This laptop has a 1 year global warranty. How is Asus warranty in India?

2. Performance - The laptop is pretty well specced, but is there any other that can compare to it in the same price bracket or less?

3. Usability - If any of you have already used it, pros and cons, et al.

I'd like to make an informed buy so I'd really appreciate all and any suggestions and advice before I go ahead and buy this.

Honestly, if you are a PC gamer get a good spec Desktop and pair it with an LCD and get a cheaper laptop for other uses. <- Better experience. Or get a console(would suggest PS3, purely personal choice)+LCD+Cheaper laptop

IF you need a Gaming laptop and ONLY gaming laptop, then its a pretty decent choice.

Actually... the Asus G74SX is more sumptuously specced! But I'm sure, its gonna cost a kidney :)

its by rashi peripheral tech.

and you can search around for its torture stories.

if i am in your place,i would buy anything apart from asus.

i would suggest alienware/msi

dell gives true international warranty and they dont have some stupid third party as service provider.

i for myself have decided that me and my circle wont buy anything with asus on it.

Oh wow.... is something wrong with the warranty provider? I mean, if (God forbid), something goes wrong with the laptop, I won't get any warranty in India? Could you please elaborate? I never thought that I'd have any issues with the laptop warranty since Asus mentions that it provides global warranty. This is bad news! :(
 
asus provides in-home service for laptops and monitors.. rashi doesnot provide laptop warranty for asus...
 
I have been using Asus products for years now. Pc parts, laptop, fone, you name it, I have it :D Never had issues with servicing for any of those.
 
if u want gaming, a core i7 2630QM will suffice alongwith 4GB ram. Try for a 1600x900 screen(better gaming performance).

The most important component is the GPU, as laptops tend to have a weak gpu. For gaming, the gpus to look out for:

hd6770m
gtx460m
gtx 560m
hd5870m
hd6870m
