and price quoted in the olx ad is Rs. 175, you are quoting Rs. 350

Yup. Johin is trying to make a killing here. :)

I have seen the prices of quality rejects for BOSS, Armani, Gap(I think) etc in coimbatore.. when u take in bulk, as john had, the prices they quote are nowhere high as John.

Heck 10 tees of Lee where for 800 bucks. Yup. that is 80 bucks per Tees.

Place, well... honestly. I dunno the name. My second brother lives in coimbatore. One of his inlaw relatives are into manufacturing these stuff. But i know Allen Solly, Zodiac factory outlets were near to that place. but on main road. This was inside kinda place. Saw a satellite bus stand or something before taking the turn. outside city ofc.

And rite. No. Period. You do get original stuff. labelled also. Just coz you are not old enough to understand production, surplus & logistics doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

You don't. You know what companies like Gucci etc do with surplus. They burn it. They don't want to flood the market, they make for a niche market. And I have already spent over a lac buying such cheap stuff with labels, much pricier than most here could afford even at discounted pricing though.

And nearly always it turned out fake. You need an expert to confirm for you which I was able to get hold of. eBay.com does have some authentic stuff at 25-50% Msrp but that is like 5% of what is listed and eBay.in is all fake.

Go to authenticforum .com or .org whatever it is and check for authenticity. There are experts for each brand there. It is honest forum.com I think. Just check and then get back.

:S...

How about u move from ur chair and go out and see these places in real and then talk?. Stop talking abt online shops and forums. Do Gucci send mails to u before each burning? What about the other N no.of companies? Some surplus burning committee monitors each burning? Don't u think there is a teeny tiny possibility that a company can make some money form surplus, they will do it? Do u know surplus items are always under the export companies control? and they dont advertise their sales? people just know it by ear and come.

This will be my last reply to u. Coz most of your posts are outright absurd.

Johin u tried to rip us, so bad of you :(

and #m-jerri you gotta some nice info regarding surplus, please do share more more and more details about it , i am planning to buy some denims and tshirts for upcoming seasons :(.

Also you from which place ?

I havent ripped anyone. They are not my stuff. I am just a freelancer as I told earlier also. I juz take orders and I juz post the pictures and take the orders thats all. I dont own any of these stuff. Its like I also got a person from whom I will buy and that guy also got another person from whom he would buy.

Infact I want to start my own business of anything. People here are good and techsounded. If you got any offers then do let me know please. Becoz today's world we can do everything online.

Dude, First of all you got no rights to offend other members.
Secondly if you are so rich that you spend lacs on branded stuff keep it for your self. No one is asking you to brag about it.
If you don't agree with any point on this thread either you could have ignored it or not commented or reported it.
FYI there are many other "filthily" rich members on this forum who we know in person but I have never seen them talk with such over proud language.

to be honest, if u go to these kind a places... I never see people bother about the brand. They all look for patterns, styles, materials etc.
Not everyone in europe is also rich. There are normal people there. And some excellent items u can find. ofc comparing to indian "upscale" items, they are better.

I only know of few coimbatore places. For denim also its a nice place. But avoid the direct factory outlets. any brands. just crap. go for lesser known export brands.
If you got the right attitude, even if u wear xyz brand, u will pull it off. believe.

IMO u should also focus like that. Either way, Do people check each others tags everyday? I never seen or done.

cheap talk usually comes with cheap class. so dont read much into his claims.

It's funny we care so much about brands that we will even pay more for international brand's rejects than buy local stuff. To be honest, I have found many indian brands (Indian Terrain comes to mind) who manufacture decent quality clothing which one can get at moderate prices.

Btw, I fail to understand why people would jump on this (Lacoste Piqué Polo ($43.90) 50% off+FREE SHIPPING @ Nordstrom - Slickdeals.net) no matter how good the quality is. After a few washes (especially by Indian laundry guys), all your clothes are bound to look old.

Are you by any chance related with the export industry in India or have any idea how many companies in India are actually producing for name brand clothing? By name brand I mean brands like CK, DKNY, Kenneth Cole, Gucci heck even JCPenny or Saks Fifth Avenue?? I admit I can be wrong even after spending half my life running a garment export business but I have till now never come across any factory manufacturing for a respectable brand and then selling the surplus/rejects in the open market with labels intact. The possibility of this happening is almost as remote as Foxconn selling its own version of the apple ipads and iphones in the open market since they are the ones manufacturing it anyway. Heck why only sell surplus/rejects, why not produce a fresh lot and sell them in quantity? After all most of the raw material such as fabric, embellishments, labels etc. is sourced from India anyway or can be easily copied and the factory already has the patterns and designs. Most of the big names don't even order to small to medium sized people rather give their orders to exporters like Orient Craft or Gokaldas Exports. I won't comment on whether they burn them or shred them but they don't sell them in the open market with name tags intact. The business is too huge to risk the brand discovering any infringement. Understand these guys are making crores manufacturing for brands they are not gonna risk that for a few lakhs here and there.

And as far as genuineness goes, there's a market called Mohan Singh Palace in CP, Delhi where you can get some of the best fabric for denims as almost all denims in India are supplied by Arvind Mills, even to the manufacturer for Diesel jeans. A tailor there can give you the same style in the same fabric with all the same labels and rivets and same quality stitching for about 25% price of the actual jeans at the store. Thats how genuine most of the "branded" stuff out there is.

Still if you feel that you have a more in-depth knowledge of production, surplus & logistics I am all ears. No age for learning I say.

Good to get some insight in this matter. Could you also recommend some Indian brands that one can look at for good quality clothing?

Wow you guys have gone way off-topic. So much argument over buying overpriced clothes. I never really got the point of all these labels, Why pay so much extra cash when no one in India will recognize or care what you are wearing. I once saw a 20k pair of jeans at a mall which looked shittier than the 5 yr old Levi's i was wearing.

You can try to type big essays. It doesn't prove what i seen and said is wrong or untrue. :(. Also, I have no clue about all the brands int he world. Only the ones i have seen and mentioned. And only about coimbatore. Rest, maybe you are right. Dunno that either.

So agreeing to disagree. :)

Typical statements of a closed mind. "I am correct even if all logic defies me." :) No offense, just a friendly advice if you can find it. Cheers !!!

Totally agree man. Infact I prefer to get my clothes stitched rather than buy readymade. Better fitting and better choice of fabrics at a fraction of the cost. Ultimately, its the quality of the clothing that speaks. I would rather buy a big brand watch which can be shown off w/o getting intimate with someone ;) I mean if she's already with you at that stage I don't think the brand of clothing you wear would matter :D

Damm so many masterminds in TE :O, seems all geeky intelligent minds are concentrated here...

#agupta02 #aproxymate and #m-jeri, thx all for your comments and keep posting so that we get further knowledge on this matter..

Also, i have a inside information that bigger online retailers of India, includig Myntra, Yebhi and Jabong, buy surplus items from exports and they get them a nice discount. I got an insider man @ Yebhi and Jabong too :D.

Talking about the brand, i had earlier bough an ed-hardy tshirt white color for 6k, but after 3 laundry it looked like a 200 rupee roadside piece :(

As the thread goes on.

Close Friend is looking at opening shop of such good quality clothes, Brand or no brand.

Something similar to what National Market or Show off sales in Bangalore. Any heads up or anyone who can provide such clothing, please let me know.
