Asus g73 vfm and you will get 2 years international warranty also. I own asus g73jh though my one is non 3D

Thanks for the suggestions, is it possible to also get some cheap 3D notebooks? I have update the first post.

Please specify what exact price point you are pointing at in $ when you say cheap. There are few last generation cheap 3D notebooks like Asus G51 and the Acer 3D notebook which are around 800-900$

But I would recommend either go for Dell XPS 17 3D or Asus G53SX 3D as the other cheaper 3D laptops cannot handle 3D gaming well at all.

All 3D laptops I find are gaming laptops, since watching movies is first priority and gaming is second I'm thinking sub 1200 USD.

And Dell XPS 17 with 3 GB GPU comes to around 1500, what should be the GPU considerations for 3d?

Asus options are good, though naked eye 3d will require a demo.

For 3D gaming you need atleast Nvidia GT555M, but GT460M or GT560M is recommended at the very least

This info, because Dell XPS has an upgrade option to Nvidia GT555M (3GB). I'm just trying to understand if it's really worth it, because the price gets bumped up by $200 (GPU + Battery).

power of GPU doesn't depend on RAM(don't know why people are running behind GB >_> )even 1GB GPU can easily out perform 3GB card

plus 3D movie will be far better in gaming then normal laptop because of quality which cheap laptop lacks take example of different cinema which show 3D movie in some some cinema 3D is awesome but in some they only give headache

@quixand

There is no article as such. Let me try n explain to you. 30 fps is considered to be a good fps in all games, most mid end GPUs can achieve 30 fps or more at medium settings in the latest games. But in 3D, the effective fps drops to half. So if a card is able to put up 36 fps in Crysis 2 medium settings, in 3D mode it will drop to 18 fps which is not smooth at all for you to enjoy the game.

So you need a very powerful GPU that can manage atleast 60 fps in 2D so that you can enjoy 3D gaming. And mid range GPUs cannot do it, even the GT555M will struggle with 3D gaming so that is the minimum you should get. So if you really want smooth 3D gaming experience, get a laptop with Nvidia GT460M or Gt560m. Gt555m is just passable. No point getting a less powerful GPU than GT555m as you won't be able to play in 3D with inferior GPUs.

Dude the issue here is 3D rendering not 2D games in general therefore the 3GB question. I do not know whether it takes more Memory or not. The comparison here is between Nvidia 550M 1GB and 3GB Nvidia 555M and their ability to process 3D images, and here you are trying to solve an age old "bickering issue". And please review your post it's tough to understand, one word, punctuation!!

@Babu.Mohan thanks that is what I was looking for. Will do some more research, maybe get him to demo a 3D game like Crysis 2, Let's see.

Didnt say that, but please try to put it in a readable format. If you have an idea about the memory usage or the frame rates to expect in 3D please do post.

If 3D is your priority, dont look below the Nvidia 560m. Thats the bare minimum.

This technology is evolving fast. If you have time at hand, I would suggest you wait. Glassless 3D screens are promising. LG has a few aces up its sleeves. Lets see what they come up with.

Thanks, this fetched another 150 USD off plus $429 off already mentioned.

Built an XPS 17" system -
i7 2630, 6GB RAM, 3GB Nvidia GT555M, 3D Panel, 750 GB HDD @7.2K, Backlit Keyboard, Targus Backpack packaged deal, WD 1TB USB 3.0 external, Nvidia supplied glasses
= $1550. Left out SSD it was pushing it over 2 Grand.

Please do leave comments on the build, too much RAM ? Any changes?
