buying new system

hi guys,

I'm helping my friend, building a new system.

the problem is I'm confused between intel and amd.

am3 socket will be replaced by am3+ in next 3-4 months.

and i don't want to get him am3 because of this reason, and he can't wait.

but i don't know about intel that good(to many socket:ashamed:)

and this is the second problem.

i don't know if my choice of socket(in the template below) is still in production or not.

and if it's not phased out, buying that instead of an am3 setup is a good option or not.

so guys please help me to make a choice here.

should i get him a amd system or intel.

Intel LGA1156 is also EOL. If he cant wait then no option other than AM3.

AthlonII X3 440 ~ 3.3k
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-US2H ~ 3.4k (Might be slightly difficult to get. But since you are going to NP you can try SMC or CE)
Sapphire 512MB 5670 GDDR5 ~ 4.4k
RAM Corsair Value 2gb ddr3 ~ 1.1k
Hard drive Seagate 500gb 7200.12 ~ 1.7k
PSU FSP Saga II 350W ~ 1.5k

Total: 15.4k (AthlonII X4 config exceeds your budget a lot. AthlonII X3 440 should be fine)

thanks for the reply.
is it possible to get an intel system with newer, "still in production" socket in 15K?

Diificult. The cheapest new LGA 1155 based H61 mobos costs ~ 3.6k-3.8k. The i3 2100 costs 6k!!! So it will be difficult to fit in your budget. AM3 is a much better option.

is there any alternative to this in the same price range?
