Hey all,
my friend in school got an offer from his father's 40year old close friend for a Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX 768mb. Now i know it costs around 550$ and u would be wondering if the guys a retard to sell it at that price or hes trying to cheat me. My friend says that the guy is very reliable and is selling the card which is not opened at all(it is sealed:clap: ) and has been with the guy for 2 months. The guy did not use the card because he did not have a PCI-E Slot in his motherboard and did not want to buy a new one apparently.
Now, i was thinking that if i want the tradeoff to be a fair one, i will ask my friend to tell the guy to lend me his card for a week in which i will test the card and if functioning normally( the warranty card will be included as the card will be sealed in its case), i will pay him 7k and get a 25-30k card in an absolutely new condition. Now, i have a Nvidia 6600 256mb card which i guess works on an AGP slot so i guess my motherboard too does not support PCI-E. So where can i test the card? I really need to test it bfore i can buy it. I have a duo core 2 @ 1.86Ghz each and i guess im using a 102GGC Intel motherboard(will check up on this and let u know as soon as possible)
Pls tell me where i can test out the card.

Thx

P.s. my relatives from the states are arriving in november so i can get a new mobo and 2Gb Ram then but if i can get my brother to buy this card for only 7k for me then i can actually get a 8Gb Ipod Touch:P instead of a 400$ Geforce 8800GTS 640mb which i was gonna buy originally

If he knows what kinda deal he is getting into then go for it , but dont cheat him for the worth of the card . if the dealer is genuine . offer him a fair price that you can afford if you can .

7000 is just too low for a fantabulous card like that .

he knows that but he feels that he wants to sell it for 7k. My main question is where can i test the card out to know for sure that its working optimally?

will be tought to find but i wish a delhi member cld help me out with this if anyone has time and who lives near green park, hauz khas, iit, safdarjung encl,... thx

^^^^u need powerful motherboard such xfx 650i support over clocking that cpu ram and soem extra ;)

but 102GGC Intel motherboard has no oc only oem brand :P

I will be gettin a mobo from the states along with 2BG RAM but that will come in November and this guy wants to sell it very soon so i really need to know where i can check it.

why can u buy amd c2d it is cheap and less quiet energy saving :P

4800x/2 or 5000x/2 with 65mn bisbane 5k

add motherboard evga or asus sli motherboard 6-8k

Dont forget the main requirement - a good PSU. If you dont get the new mbd & ram, the card will still work if you have a PCI-E slot & a good PSU.

Get a Corsair 620W PSU or something in that range.

k thx but my main question still remains is that where can i test the card since i bet i dont have a PCI slot in my mobo and yes i will buy the PSU but i guess that u shld get 1 from india right?

what kind of b.s is this ?you actually expect us to belvie that he is giving you a GTX for 7k ?? what full b,s!

what PSU would do to have a 8800 SLi or 2900xt crossfire?

for a single card setup a HX620, a HX620 can also handle an 8800GTX SLI - saw that somewhere on anandtech, but for peace of mind a 8800 SLI should have at least a 850W PSU IMO
