been considering this myself, but the n86 looks much more "mature" and sturdy, but the screen on the omnia hd looks delicious, dont care much for the hd rcording, its nice to have tho...

choice between n86 and this is different .. touch or keypad.. keypad then n86 is the best handset out there and u want to exp touch then omnia hd is just awesome..about firmwares.. just change product code and then update to the latest one .. I do that with my N86

All i can say is that play a movie on the Omnia, and i can say that i havent seen better clarity or contrast that the unit displays in any other phone. Sure that it would drain the battery in a matter of hours, All said and done; Just wait for the Omnia 2.

As for the bug fixes with the firmware update they are minor bug fixes. And no arguments there about india being the last in the list to get the firmware update. Im just waiting for my one year contract(warranty) to expire and ill go about flashing other region firmwares.

What were the bugs/issues that the new firmware is suppose to fix?

Is bad s/w support really a deal breaker?

No its not.

See, my trainer bought this phone when it was launched here. And every time he comes to my place, all he does is connect to my wifi network and see if Samsung India has released an update :P

Its not a bad phone at all. But its flaws are in critical areas of day to day operations.

The screen is great, absolutely gorgeous. But the symbian was not ready for large capacitive screen.

Samsung really needed to give custom touches to the firmware when it comes to critical functions like keyboard, browser, and they didnt. They wasted time on customising home screen which though great, is not the critical part of the phone.

Typing is a big issue. I myself use a capacitive screen phone, and life is much simpler on my Hero when it comes to emailing and smsing.

The keyboard in this phone is exactly same as Nokia 5800, samsung didnt make any changes to it and kept it as it is which is real shame as its waste of the estate area on the phone.

On the other hand, even when you use the phone for couple of months, you will still be making mistakes when typing messages.

HD recording does have frame duplication problem but its not a big deal. Its still the best quality recording I have ever seen on a mobile phone.

The main problem is the integration of Capacitive screen with symbian. And samsung is known to screw over its smartphone users over time with lack of support. These are the 2 main disadvantages.

Other than that, for the price they are asking for this, its a great multimedia device but average phone.

I dont understand why symbian isn't ready for large capacitive screens......
This phone has many better features over other phones in its range even great features......and i dont think symbian is that much bad platform......
Actually i wanna buy this phone next week.....dont wanna regret after spending so much one.....so can anybody suggest me whats wrong wid this phone.....
