I am planning to buy the MSI X340 for arnd 23k from Croma, Chennai tomorrow.

My budget is around 20k and i am stretching it a lot for my capacity

My primary usage is browsing and watching movies. Since i have only 720p movies with me i needed a netbook that can play the same.

Some questions.

1.How is the battery life, not much of an concern as i'll be using it in my home 90% of the time.

2.How is the overall quality? Heard that there are issues with the keyboard with the initial batch, but seemingly fixed with the revisions (as said in most of the internation tech forums dated around August 2009).

3.Any other issues that i should look into?

I know i am very close to the category of buying a proper laptop with few thousand more, but i wanted something to look good and weight less :P

Link to the model : MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more

Also any suggestion on how to make use of this laptop for download purpose without wasting the battery life on the long run?

own one past 2 months
Batt life with 4 cell batt at power saving mode 3 h
Display is very good
Better check key board thoroughly before delivery.
very portable very nice looks

- the right side keys are tiny ...like del , shift , pgup and pgdn keys..otherwise rest of the keys are good. (no issue like flex on my piece)

-display is glossy but i find it better than matt ..(reflect only on black background) it adds to the depth

^yeah i read those reviews earlier. Gizmodo had mentioned that in the initial batches the keyboards were very weak and fixed in the next revision. They also mentioned that the 4 Cell battery didn't even give 2 hours of backup.

Bought the X340 :D. Thanks a lot for your suggestion guys. Will post the pics later. Price i got was Rs.23,500.

^Give me some time, didn't much time to use the laptop hehe :P. Initial impression, well battery could have been better and the track pad comes my way while typing, would been nice if they kept a lock key close to the trackpad, instead it is located at F8 function key. No other complaints apart from these. Performance is good :D

what about 720p playback ( r they smoothly running ) without any hickups ( distortion ) of sound n video .. n is it a single or dual core , is there any option 4 upgrading the cpu( with some extra cash ) in compensation with the os ( as i dont need it i already hv my college copy win 7 pls reply :)

Did not want to start another thread :) came across this review by windwithme (i think he is member of techenclave) Chip.in • View topic - The New 12” into CULV Notebook Mix–MSI Wind12 U200 56k warn ant idea of its availability and pricing??

^Nope, nothing of that sort. Only drawback with this keyboard i have faced so far is that the battery life. I got roughly two hours or so of backup yesterday (browsed for 1 hour and another 1 hour+ i saw a 720p movie) while switching it off it was showing 19%.

I know the MSI global link says its a dual core, but can you confirm the exact CPU model on the piece you got? maybe post a cpu-z screenshot?
