BWA vs 3G

It seems the BWA auction price has surpassed that of 3G in some circles.How is BWA different from 3G? Is the technology same as that used by bsnl evdo,reliance netconnect ,tata photon etc?
And the most important question.... will the competition between 3G,BWA and wired internet make broadband in India cheaper anytime soon ?:D
 
bwa auction is for wimax and lte. in a way, its a 4g auction, i think.

both are often branded as competing 4g technologies. wimax is promoted by intel and LTE is promoted by qualcomm. infact, the 1st 4g phone - HTC EVO 4G, which recently went on sale in the US runs on Sprint's (CDMA) wimax network!
 
nice find.Looks like we have to wait longer for cheaper and better internet. and i will be stuck with bsnl 500c for few more years:(
