I am not expecting a huge drop untill AMD brings it's big 'guns' (both Processor and Dx10 Graphics cards)

but for the drop to reach the market it will take another 4-5months and the diffence will be noticable mainly from May onwards

you can wait for the intel c2d price cut which will happen on 7th jan. so should take affect here in jan end of feb i guess.

There are no proce drops on 7th Jan for C2D.

Intel will launch QX6600 slated between E6700 and QX6700.

The 7th Jan price drop is for older pentium D with the 651, 650, 641, 640, 631 and 630 prices going down along with couple of 5XX series processors.

C2D pricing is set to go down Q2 2007 which is long way away and that too for high end processors.

There is NO CUSTOMS DUTY of processors as of now. So dont expect processor prices falling much any time soon.

I remember a few years back, the duty on computer parts was reduced to 2-4%. So by now it should be zero as funky says. The duty structure is different for computer parts, and they are not clubbed with electronics. So while LCD's may get cheaper, computer parts may not.
