Hi Guys
I plan on upgrading my existing C2D setup with the latest LGA1155 IvyBridge/Z77 setup. Can anyone suggest what might be the best screwless/thumb-screw case available please? Budget hovers anywhere between 6K and 10K.

Thank You

I would recommend either the Carbide 400r (which I own) or the Corsair Graphite series.

The latter is very spacious, stylish and offers superb cable management. Will max out your budget
though. The 400R on the other hand is around 5k like alpha says, and it is also quite good for that
price range.

Think i might settle for the Carbide 500R.

It is available and I would not recommend it on the basis of this review.

The only issue I have is that the case is weak and packaging doesn’t really do the justice of protecting it properly. 500R is more designed to be a mass produced model to go head to head with few best selling cases for the price point, but its too expensive and not really worth the risk. The weight of the core configuration does hold the case together (In layman’s terms: imagine its like a packaging box- like the case’s packaging box. Its weak because its empty but once the box is filled with stuff and properly taped on both ends, it does hold the basic cube shape and they don’t wobble.) and most of the wobbling does stop (despite filling it up and when you remove the HDD case, the case does tend to bend).

Here is a video showing the aforementioned wobble -- Corsair 500R Review - YouTube

It is by an Indian author and he does not like to mince any words on such topics.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

i wonder if you can find the vengence c70 case here. looks damn neat. should be within your 8k budget :)

No bead on that cyber, plus if he wants military stylized peripherals / components, I will vouch for the Cooler Master STORM series cabinets; especially the Trooper and Sniper.

Here are a few reviews for the Vengeance C70 -- legitreviews / Anandtech / Hardware Secrets.

The Corsair Vengeance C70 is a real misstep for their case lineup. Aesthetically it feels off, though that's admittedly a matter of taste, but more importantly the performance is poor. It's tough to pinpoint exactly where thermal performance went awry for the C70, but I have a couple of theories. The first is that their thermal performance has always been more middle-to-good. That's not necessarily a major problem, at least on the first few cases, because as engineers they're still experimenting and working out the kinks.

Internal design has been gradually improved over time, but it's always been incremental. In the C70 that evolution seems to have almost ground to a halt, with only the cage-mounted intake fans being a real change. I also think the amount of ventilation on the C70 may actually be harming performance, as air isn't channeled in a way to maximize performance.

The fans that come preinstalled are actually fairly quiet at full throttle, but they don't seem to be moving a whole lot of air either. As a result, the case's performance is severely short-changed. Slightly better airflow from the case fans can actually do wonders for reducing thermals and noise, as the fans on the processor and graphics card wind up not having to work anywhere near as hard.

Legit Bottom Line: The Vengeance C70 is a very nice case with all steel construction that looks to be able to take a beating from being hauled around.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

^woops. my bad. i guess he can 550d or even the 650d here. they look really nice and offer a lot of flexibility. i would have also suggested the haf series but personally speaking i hate the looks :(

I'm a bit conservative in the styling department...that said, the 400R sound very tempting at 5K

The Vengeance series looks cool but its not for me... :)

Can't find either...can you post links to either/both with their respective prices please? Thanks :)

Go for the NZXT Tempest EVO then ~5500/-.

For this price you get --
  • 2x 140mm fans for the front [INTAKE]. 2x 120mm on top [EXHAUST], 1x 120mm rear [EXHAUST] and 1x 120mm LED fan on the side-panel [INTAKE]; all these fans are included in the cabinet and are pre-bundled.
  • All intake positions have dust-filters.
  • Support for extra large sized boards, upto the E-ATX standard.
  • nice matte black powder finish interior and plenty of cable routing space. The cable holes also come with rubber grommets.
  • support for large closed loop water cooling kits like Corsair H100 and SVG Tech HOC 40.

Where are you purchasing from [online / which city]?

If you are buying from Bombay, then the NZXT Tempest EVO is easily available at most major enterprises on Lamington Road [Prime ABGB, The IT Wares].

If you are from North OR East India it will be wiser to go for the Corsair Carbide 400R.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

Thanks mate...from Chennai

Checked out the Tempest Evo...all i can say is that it is no match for the 400R in terms of finish and cable management
