Due to the difficulties faced by stakeholders in meeting the new guidelines of the TRAI by the deadline , the decision was taken to extend the deadline .

The Trai in May 2012 had asked every cable operator to put in place a consumer complaint redressal system with a toll-free number having a web based complaint monitoring system. The TRAI has also stipulated timeframe for various agreements between cable operator and multi-service providers to ensure transparent content and revenue-sharing module.

“Both these orders of Trai have not yet been substantially implemented. As a result, the installation of set top boxes has not picked up pace...” said a statement from the ministry.

what were the stakeholders doing all this time? since they're loosing money they're dragging their feet. if they were to gain money this would have been 100pc completed before June 30.

full exercise is going to be a waste in totality. i for one would want the STB to be distributed free along with the connection. this is the only way they could see 100 % implementation across all cities.
