hi guys,
all the guys and gals with good knowledge of flash memory help me out.i need to buy a new flash drive-performance and reliability are the top priority.so i think i want a SLC nand based flash drive instead of MLC nand.according to me buffalo technology is the only company available in india that still uses SLC nand in their flash drives.my queries are:
1.whether high end MLC nand can match the reliability of SLC nand
2.which flash drives in the market use SLC nand
3.kindly provide a link to a dealer or shop that can sell me SLC nand based drives
4.is there any source online to check SLC nand based flasn drives

Thanks in advance guys!....and gals!!!!!!

^^ Better get the more readily available Corsair Voyager / Voyager GT flash drives, 16GB ~ 1500/- OR 1700/-.

They perform good when compared to generic Transcend / HP / Kingston drives that have flooded the market.

Buffalo has a very weak network of retailers in India, I hardly see their drives apart from TATA Croma where they're generously over-priced.

I have tested HP v165 8gb drive and the read/write was pretty good. write 9-10 MB/s and read 25+ MB/s. It's much better than sandisk i had bought recently. Sandisk gave 4-5 MB/s write and 10-11 MB/s read :(

yes i know about sandisk blade.i bought one and was very disappointed.i get 5-6 MB/s write speeds on a 4 gb and a 8 gb.i have an old corsair voyager gt,my friend got one for me from the us- about 4 years ago,it was a ridiculously expensive 1 gb drive back then but the write speeds approach 20MB/s. it is a SLC drive.new voyager gt drives are MLC.so i think for reliability i will have to go with MLC anyway as its so hard to get a SLC nand drive in India.so i guess i should buy a corsair gt.I really like my 1 gig drive though.SLC lasts 10 times as long as MLC so in the long term it is better value than MLC.I wish i could get a decent SLC drive though.I would pay double the price!

Since you are mainly looking for speed why not consider the new USB 3.0 flash drives which seem to have good read and write speeds compared to USB 2.0 ones. I see the Transcend India website has USB 3.0 flash drives on sale. Perhaps someone who has used them can give their feedback.

bought a corsair!!!!!! the theoretical max of usb 2.0 is 48 mbps.the high end slc nand drives give 30-35 mbps.so the bottleneck is cheaper nand used in pen drives.i think that usb 3.0 is a marketing gimmick!!!!!!!!
