This is testing the waters survey. :)

I would want to know how many of you, students or working guys alike, would be interested in writing and contributing for a TE programmers database and basically a program code database for different languages.

OR writing basic user friendly guides(even using other sites as references but making sure that the end result is worthy of having its independent existence) on different programming and web technologies(specific areas or general or basic level).

The idea is to have a database of guides and programs that can help the college and high school kids in India or even those starting programming, to find resources here on TE rather than going to different websites.

We will reward the people who can contribute with some tokens of appreciation. Right now the key is to find out if there is any enthusiastic public among you for this.

A good move, but didnt expect TE to move in this direction.

I think basic guides and pointers to specific things on the net would be ideal. I think further inputs can set a direction.

Anyways, im in :)

did some good programming on VB , Java , C and C++ 4 years ago , lost touch now . :(

ill try and brush up , i know the logic is somewhere there at the back of my mind collecting dust .

You know, what sort of programming guides do you want? Rather than a language, you may want _technology_ tutorials.

E.g. kernel hacking, CORBA, RMI, Windows driver development, internals of some particular software etc.

i have written websites on ASP, can contribute the code for that. If thats what you are looking for.

no am not looking for website codes.

If you can explain though from ground up how to build what you did in a simple language so as to help a person starting out in that field, then yes, thats what i am looking for.

if anyone interested in making game mods and all 3d stuff i'de be happy to write some stuff or tutorial for all out there especially V-ray tutorials

Hi,
i can contribute on C,C++ , perl scripting, shell scripting , kernel compilations , and LINUX stuff.

I can submit tutorials on different parts of the languages with code examples.

And I will make it linux oriented especially the C and C++ part.

And yes linux system programming and UNIX OS concepts.

This idea is really good. Will help in brushing up what i have forgotten.

I dunno abt guides and tuts but something like programming contests are always a welcome, they provide some of the best and slimmest code in a variety of languages eg, Project Euler. Hope TE will also be planning something of that sort ;)
