Camcorder Help - DVD or HDD based?

Hi

I live in the US(0f A).I am planning on getting a new Camcorder. I am really confused  as to what to get. I don't want to know on the models/brands but i want to know which among the two storage formats(DVD or HDD based Camcorder) is the best.

I searched the forum for relevant topics but found none.
Can someone quote me the pros/cons of both ? Also tell me if flash memory card based ones are better than these 2.
Price isnt a factor.

Thanks in advance

flash > HDD > DVD.

DONT get dvd. try a good deal on the flash ones from newegg :) HDD ones have more capacity but are also prone to damage more easily than flash ones since they are susceptible to drops/shocks etc :)

Why don't you get a quality digital camera which, nowadays, comes with a minimum of 640x480 30fps video capability, which is DVD quality? Throw in a 16GB SD card for around 30-40 bucks and you'll get hours of video recording ala a camcorder.

Granted you won't get the full gamut of controls of a camcorder but it's much more convenient to carry around.

The Panasonic DMC-TZ5K has gotten great reviews and also records in 720P HD. It's available at Newegg for just $224 this week with a case and 2GB card thrown in (look under combo deals below).

I own canon HG 10, bought it for around 25k(650-700 USD) and it is FHDi. Amazing quality and really VFM. I will strongly suggest going for Canon after owning Sony for a very long time ( own exp.). Go for Canon HG10.

One word of advice: Stay away from suggestions that ask you to use a Camera as a camcorder. A camera is a camera and a a camcorder is a camcorder. Huge difference, exp. if you are watching on LCD (40").
