Ok bd, try this

1) Go to "Control panel"

2) "Adminitstrative Tools"

3) "Services"

4) Check "Canon Camera Access Library 8" and check if it is started or not. Most likely not.

5) Go to properties (double click) "Canon Camera Access Library 8" and try to start it and switch the "startup type" to automatic. It might not start.

6) If it does not start, check if "SSDP Discovery Service" is on and "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" as well. Their both Startup types have to be automatic as well.

7) Start "Canon Camera Access Library" close everything and it should start working.
