I have a friend who is experiencing the very same problem. Initially he was using the X850 XT PE without any problems on a Antec SP 400 Watts. But today the machine didnt boot at all. I advised him to just plug in the CPU + MOBO + RAM + GFX CARD. Upon doing so the machine bootted but is artifacting even in Bios. I have now advised him to try a more powerful powersupply. Lets see what happenes next.

if artifacts can be seen in bios it usually means that the ram on the card is spoilt.
does any one know any things which one should not do to ensure that this ^^ does not happ? :S

omg this is scaring :-s i was using 6800u with a 400 watts iball power supply fine enuff.

dont tell me .. Your Iball psu took the load of that 6800U ??? ?? anyways then i am dead sure that Antec 400 watts is more than enough for this X850XT PE and it cannot be artifacting due to low power and that too by only connecting the mobo+procc+ram+gpu .. I think the card is dying.

dude try using some diff cards also try ur card in some diff system and see. u cant conclude so soon.also check out ther voltages ur psu is delivering with a multimetre.it may be faulty psu too.
my iball rs 600 smps ran fine.i played AOM for 4 hours the system was up for more than 12 hours with 2 40 gb hdd's dvd rom sli premium a shitload usb devices and ofcourse the 6800u.

well he tried a different card and it works fine on same PSU and he tried a differnt PSU on the 850 and still it doesnt work so most probably something wrong with card... its on its way back to Noida... lets me get and and i will post the results :)...

well my 9800 pro on my old microtek 300W psu use to give artifacts even in bios, and works like a charm with the powersafe 400W, so it may very well be a psu problem...

It's probably a faulty card in your case, but yes a bad power supply can cause artifacts.

I was getting some artifacting that went away after I cleaned the psu fan.
They used to go away completely simply by minimising and restoring the game, weird.

The last time I saw artifacts in the BIOS, I had 0.75 KG of dead hardware..;)

Check temps and connectors. Try changing the PSU connector. SP400W is more than enough for X850XT PE.

@ x86- That PSU will ruin your 6800U... Expect a HDD failure soon...
