i am looking forward to buy q9550+gtx260+vx450 soon...i already hav APC 500VA ..Can it handle the peak load from the system..i dont care abt backup since i got a inverter.

maybe less than a minute or minute if you are lucky ,otherwise APC 650VA is what you need minimum.

It will not. I have had the personal experience. It will make an overload beep the moment you put load on GPU. You must go for .75-1 KVA. I have tried on C2D6550 + 2 HDD + 8800GTX.

ALSO MOST IMPORTANT THAT YOU DONT CONNECT INVERTOR AND UPS IN SERIES, or you will burn the UPS. The invertor changes the frequency of voltage as per the load. So you risk a chance of UPS burnout. Your UPS may have worked well, but dont take chances.

aint gtx260 much more power efficient than 88gtx???

It is..But 8800GTX was crossing the border. Also I has 2 HDD's and one cabinet cooling Fan. I guess you can upgrade...and change the UPS if it does not make a noise or beep. APC 500 VA does have a overload detector.

at the full 300watts load u will get 3 min back up on a brand new fully charge batteries,if the load crosses the 300watts mark then the overload lights will kick in.

Anybody having personal experience??

Ive had a bad experience with

Q6600
XFX8800GT
Tagan BZ600 modular (85% eff)
---

Even though the system must not have ever reached 300W Ac, still the APC 500 has been giving lots of problems, humming, heating, even blew the SMPS once.

Hence i would recommend:
Either keep the PC on a 16A plug without using the UPS, Or buy a New apc 650/800 VA Ups immediately

If u are not gaming on ur PC, it can handle but if u are gaming and the power goes off, it can't handle coz of the load.
Ideally the APC 650VA can take upto 250-260W. Above that it can't.

U better go for a 650VA or more as per ur budget.

sorry for this Qus,
by any luck does any one know APC service centre in Bangalore?

I need to repair a 500VA ES model, its outside warranty, do u know how much it will cost (consider a worst case scenario)

or is it suggested to go with other ppl who repair it?
any pointers will be helpful..
