can i buy any modem for my dataone connection?

i subscribe to the dataone 500 plan the last 3 years
i 'bought' my modem as against renting it from bsnl
UT-300R2
recently i bought a netgear wireless router WGR614v7 which is working fine
the power switch in the modem has gone faulty and the modem turns off often
it works if the power switch is pressed hard
bsnl said they cant help me coz i bought the modem and didnt rent it
anyway i think its time to go for a new modem
will any adsl modem work with my connection or do i have to buy only from bsnl?

you can buy any modem from market, linksys / netgear and buffalo are most recommended companies here.

you need to know how to setup modem though as bsnl people will not help you out with the aftermarket appliances.
