Can i connect 2 PCs without Router

I will be setting up 2 PCs - one gaming rig and one download rig...
Can i connect these 2 PCs on network directly with a LAN cable to take remote desktop connection or VNC

Sure. Though you would need a extra LAN card for download rig ( 200/-) + a cross-crimped cable for connecting gaming rig with download rig.

Connect your download rig directly to internet and turn on connection sharing.

Pretty straightforward and cheap too
