PC Peripherals Can I connect my APC UPS wirelessly?

Hi,

I connect my APC UPS (Back-UPS ES 650Y-IN) to my computer through 'RJ45 to USB' cable. I need to connect to my UPS in order to be able to shut down my computer automatically when power failure occurs.

Can I make this connection wireless. Maybe COMBINE a bluetooth dongle & rj45-to-usb adapter and plug it into my UPS and then connect my bluetooth-enabled computer to my UPS wirelessly through bluetooth?

i.e. Can I make my UPS bluetooth-enabled by using a bluetooth dongle and then connect through bluetooth?
 
^ Just a small question, how would your UPS know that it's connected to a Bluetooth Dongle & not a PC.

Just because you can connect many things to the USB Cable physically doesn't mean that it's going to work.

Why should the UPS need to know? The UPS thinks it is connected to rj45 cable. the rj45-to-USB cable adapter then connects the signal wirelessly through bluetooth dongle!
UPS---->>> rj45-to-usb-cable-adapter-------->> bluetooth dongle (connected through USB end of rj-45-usb-cable-adapter) -------------------------->>>>> computer (through bluetooth signal)

check the 2 ebay items I posted ^^

I am just guessing here...

Yeah you are guessing I don't think NAV33N is guessing, it is obvious that the UPS is supplied with the RJ45 to USB cable for a particular reason otherwise APC would have mentioned it, why don't you inquire with them :), hope this helped

How do you think the signals will be interpreted by the UPS? Alos, how would the APC software speak to the UPS over the BT stack? ;D

All the people above are trying to tell you that this is not possible, just because you can connect something to USB.
