Can I use a 32GB card in a phone with up to 16GB expandable memory capacity?

Hi,

An interesting question came to my mind. I was wondering if we can insert a 32GB microSD in a phone with up to 16GB expansion capacity? Will the memory card work or it will be supported by the device?
 
It depends on devices and manufacturers. Like I had a LG Viewty Ku990 with upto 2gb expandable memory but I used to use a 16gb card without any problems. The only thing was the memory details in settings used to show info about 2gb only. It didn't affect performance but it was a bit slow. You may try on your device if you know someone with a 32gb card...
 
I tried using a 32GB card in my Dell XCD35 (which supports only 16GB). I was already knowing that it won't work but I didn't know that it would screw up my card as well. Fortunately my card was in warranty and I got a replacement.

Don't try doing that, I'd suggest.
 
Thanks everyone..but I got a mixed response.. All I could make out is that it basically depends on the manufacturer as well as your device.. Anyways I am not going to try this on my device :eek:hyeah:
