Can the admins introduce an option to block a certain person? One sided Ignore is not enough.

I would really appreciate if this can be implemented.

There are certain argumentative and unreasonable members on the platform who make being on the platform, posting stuff on the platform untenable.

They make it hostile to be here.

It would really help if we can simply be able to exclude them from interacting with us. Maybe they can see but not reply.

It has been going for some days now. A particularly senior member I know always derails any good meaning conversation by tacky and low level accusations, he calls such things as pigeon holing and what not, just bad at conversation, and makes the conversation worse for everyone.

This must not be allowed to continue.

What is wrong with the ignore option?
And you can always report posts to the Mods and they can decide and clean it up, if required.
Because they still comment unnecessary remarks on a post where I would genuinely not want them to participate with me.

And some people revel in such micro aggressions. It would be really helpful if my life with tech and discussions if I don’t become annoyed because some obnoxious person decides to make unnecessary attacks.

Also it is reasonable for us to have the right to be able to not discuss with certain members.

I don't think that would be correct as you cannot really block others from commenting on your posts.

Ignore is the best option. It works wonders. Let anyone comment whatever they like. You will not get triggered if you do not see them.

True, I understand in a way but consider an individual who derails every conversation by instigating random arguments? That makes engaging on the forum extremely difficult. I think, the post creator should have the choice of excluding the blocked members from participating in their posts.

Its usually not possible as I have been on so many forums with different softwares with people having similar requests due to been getting bullied etc.
Just like how on whatsapp or on any social medias group chats the blocked person can still interact with us when in a group, it seems is a universal phenomena and difficult to implement such full-length blocking.
You can openly tag that person or report to mods.

getting bullied
Precisely this toxic person is a bully and has been derailing and causing problems on the Forum for a long time. I don’t know why admins tolerate his antiques everyday. I can understand the practical limitations but I don’t understand why this person is not being reprimanded? Is it just because he engages in micro aggressions, which cannot be classified as excessive at once? Then the admins should look at the bigger picture. He is the reason why many hesitate to post and comment because he lacks civility and attacks the person under the garb of pigeon holing and what not like a third rate debater. The forum becomes less engaging because of such persons. Such people are hindering full participation on the forum.
I don't believe this is possible on xenforo or discourse that the admins are switching to. I would have liked to see improved ignore feature where I don't see their stuff and they don't see mine when I mute them.
This is a bad human problem, technology can provide solution but as you listed out the limitations, it seems neither Xenforo nor Discourse enable this. Admins should be able to take active steps to reprimand these uncivil toxic bullies. I have seen this persons posts getting deleted or edited by moderators left and right for being rude and off topic, too frequently for a normal person. All these indicating that this person is not here to engage in healthy discussion but he is here for the cathartic experience of harassing someone while edging on the rules of this forum. @admins should do something about such terrible people on the forum.
