Hi guys, I just got a used lan cable from a very helpful guy, its an RJ 45, Category 5e cable, Now the cable seems to be great, it is nearly 10 metres long perfectly suits my need but when he gave me the cable I noticed it had tape on it, after coming home and connecting it to my PC and TV neither of them got connected with the internet connection and I suspected that the tape might reveal the problem, it turns out that the green cable has got cut from between, the other white cable has also lost it covering, maybe this is the reason why it is not working. The cable is good and I was thinking if it can be repaired.

I am not very good at this connector and crimping stuff.

Hi guys I know that you all live in Rohini as well so do you know any place nearby Rohini or in Rohini where I can get this cable repaired for cheap, I don't have the time to go to Nehru Place. Else please suggest me some easy way to get this cable repaired myself. Thanks

seems like a rat chewed on it. the only way to repair it is to cut it and crimp both ends with RJ45 connectors. then you can buy an rj45 coupler to connect them together. getting the coupler here might be difficult.

For how much do you the think the total expense should come out to be? I asked three different hardware shops near my house three said different prices: 50, 100, 150. Are they all ripping me off or should I get it done?

You can better get a readymade cable of desired length rather than going through this hassle...
Yaa, I think you are right, lets see, I will see if the thing gets repaired for something like 50 or so then I will do it else I am not going get it done.

Is there something special about this cable that I'm not seeing?
Its frayed, kinked and with a coupler, performance is bound to drop.
Even if its repaired for 50 or so, its just not worth it.
