Hey Admins...

Cant we have a A-List (like in Digit) sort of section in TechEnclave?

Maximum of the queries in General Hardware section can be cleared by just having such a section in the site. The A-List can be like this...

Every item must have three selections based on only Performance - Gaming, Performance - Workstations, Performance - Economy with prices for four metros.

Items may include...
  • Processors + Mobo combinations - AMD
  • Processors + Mobo combinations - Intel
  • Graphic Cards - AGP - nVidia
  • Graphic Cards - AGP - ATi
  • Graphic Cards - PCI-e - nVidia
  • Graphic Cards - PCI-e - ATi
  • Sound cards
  • Mouse - Wireless
  • Mouse - Optical
  • Mouse - Laser
  • Keyboards - Wireless
  • Keyboards - Normal
  • Monitors - Flat 19"
  • Monitors - Flat 17"
  • Monitors - Flat 15"
  • Monitors 19"
  • Monitors 17"
  • Monitors 15"
  • ...and many more items which are beyond the scope of this topic...

You get the idea...

Such detailed information can be hugely beneficial.

It will also be a first of a kind. :)

And there will be a lot of techie heads like me to help and support in such a endeavour of TE.

A section like this would require TE to officially test all those products and decide which is the best. I don't think it will be possible unless you just copy the list from some other site (which seems to be completely pointless to me). The idea is good, but requires a dedicated team of testers, not to mention the manufacturers must be willing to send their products in for testing.

I know that dart. But instead of testing ourselves like professionals, we can rely on member feedback from TE, availability in the market and other on site reviews. I am not talking about a full fledged test center. I am just talking about a information bank compiled from different test centers and even practical usage.

I already said that there will be a lot of techie heads like me to help and support this.

Yes, I understood what you had to say, but my point is that maybe a particular product is popular among the forum members so they would call it the best available even if there's something better available. I mean there should be some standard as to who decides the top products instead of getting different feedback from hundreds of forum members. ;)

but we can always start from small products right. keyboards/mice. etc etc

and setting standards.. would be say. for the above two.. "only branded products". cause then you dont have to worry abt unbranded keyboard /mice.. or maybe from not so reputed companies..

but you do realise. that testing products can mean a huge step for TE......

Yea this is a very good idea. u dont have to test at all. Member feedback on TE is unquestionable :D

I disagree..... not all members have good opinions. In the sense, some of them are completely ignorant abt the tech stuff and what is actually good, they may say it is pathetic.....

and we do know some people are there who in spite of knowing very little, think they know too much and will not exclude themselves from rating the products and in the end will screw u p the ratings....

Unless the admins can find a way of allowing only SOME members to rate, this member feedback will be a waste
