Cancelling ticket on Yatra - absurdly high charges?

I had booked a ticket for Delhi-Mangalore-Delhi which cost me around 14k. I had specifically chosen refundable flights. (Air India while going, Spicejet on return).

Now my plans have changed and Yatra is still charging nearly 8000 to cancel the tickets. WTF? I'm fine with a 1-2k cancellation charge but this is ridiculous. Is there anyway I can lessen the charges?

dint u check cancellation charges before buying ? also i think the nearer u get to flight dy the higher the charge

Had same pill before. Some one should sue them for using refundable word....

Nearly 7k is being charged by Airline here in which Yatra has no control. Yatra is also taking it's pie of ₹1200 over and above airline cancellation fees.

Last time I cancelled a GoIndigo ticket some days before journey day I faced 2000rs. penalty. Before that it was 1500rs.
7000rs is your penalty shared between two different airlines (not going to question why you booked two different airlines in the first place) so I assume its approx. 3.5k per airline. The price must have gone up. I guess this is your first time. Read up their cancellation policies to get a better idea.
