Cannot create directshow player

I get a "Cannot create directshow player" message everytime a website requires windows media player to play content. Any ideas?

I had de same problem... I was able to solve the 'directshow' problem by going to the Windows Update site where they had a 'media' update for WindowsXP-ProN users that allowed imbedded media files to play correctly in the webbrowser. Or try reinstalling wmp10 as last resort...

I fixed the problem, I uninstalled Internet explorer, windows media player and mozilla firefox and reinstalled them again.
