Hi,
I am new to dslr photography, and want to start with canon 1000d. Can anybody suggest me where in Bangalore it is available at good deal? I recently asked in fotocircle, said 26K+ with IS lense. I read in some forums saying replacing kit lense with IS lense would cost only 2k extra, is it true?
 
well u can try the grey market,located in gandhinagar or majestic ,it will be without warranty but cheaper.

In India, the camera retails with the NON IS lens officially, but most dealers upgrade it to the IS lens for a thousand or two extra.
 
Ya for canon cameras, i think jayesh is the best bet out there in bangalore. I have the same camera and I was not aware that you can exchange the lens..Will ask jayesh and see what can be done, on the other hand he was telling me that he is running out of IS version of 18-55, i think I know the reason now.:) personally i think canon should have given the IS version of this lens with the kit in India also as the camera is marketed as a beginner DSLR and an IS lens is surely going to help beginners.

I have taken mine 8 months back and he had given it to me in 26.4k with official Bill and warranty. In other places, the price was ~30k at that time.
