Camera Canon D1000 vs Panasonic FZ35

Hi everyone :)

Now before you all starting to tell me that these both camera belong to different category and cannot be compared yet I want your suggestion between two. Some days back I tried D1000 and the pictures it took didn't satisfy me,may be I need to set some setting to get good pics, though build quality was way much better then point and shoot cameras. I used auto setting for taking pictures.
Now I am having hands on experience with Panasonic FZ35 and its really giving good quality pictures on auto mode. So these both cameras belong to someone else and both are willing to sell. Now I am to choose one of them. Which one should I go for?
Canon D1000 I am getting for 15k hardly used and FZ35 too at the same price its too brand new.
I am in fix and tried to search some reviews of D1000 but did not find many only I found one and they recommended it. So before buying any tech thing I cant go for it without TE experts suggestions. So please solve this problem and let me know which one should I buy.

Some thoughts from my side which help you to choose-
Most imp requirement is Picture quality. That it.
Weight does not matter.
Can let go video function if D1000 pics are way better.
Not going to buy additional lens if I buy D1000.
Want to do lots of experiment with photography. Actually I like it alot.:)

Thanks in advance to all.:)

Well you did not mention what type of lens did you use with the Canon D1000 I personally have 3 digital camera and one being D1000 and it takes the best snaps the next is a pro-consumer Sony H2 but D1000 is ahead of the same.

BTW if you are used to point and shoot with using live view then I guess the D1000 would not be a good choice coz in most of the auto modes you need to use the view finder, I found my friend pretty annoyed when he used my D1000 coz he was not able to use the live view mode in the auto-mode just my thoughts also most of the cheap lens dont have Image Stabilization and that can be a problem if you have shaky hands.

@funtoon
Thanks for replying, It has same lense that comes with it 18-35mm I think. When I tried D1000 I did not feel any difficulty taking picture with it.

@m-Jeri
Hi jerri please tell me which is better not for me or anyone else. I feel I can use DSLR setting after having it with me for 1 or 2 months.

@ Amit
You getting 1000D with Indian bill and warranty for 15k?

If you intend and ready to spend on lenses now or later, then I would suggest DSLR for you. One thing you keep in mind, keeping DSLR is costly affair but its like an addiction once you get used to it :eek:hyeah: and you really need to keep very good care of your equipments.

@Hi darky
Actually it belongs to my friend and he selling it and yes its with bill and warranty.
Yes I heard about it, its costly affair, though I can spend later on lenses but not now. And doesnt camera too make difference or just lenses? Like now a days D3100 has come and with good price. I might like to replace it completely after using it a year or so with new generation DSLR.

^ Photography is more of things in following order

Creativity and Subject>Lenses>Body.

So if you can spend on lenses later on and can take pain to carry it along, then move ahead on DSLR way. :)

Its best to for u to get the FZ35, a real good cam with a wealth of manual options.

P.S on a relevant but unbiased request, if u are not taking the D1000 let me know if i can get it.

@Darky
Oh man this is the awesome way to understand this thing. Means if body comes last then I should not have any reason why shouldn't I to buy this camera coz I was thinking it may have gone outdated.
@memnom
Definitely man If I don't buy and he could not sell it to his known one then I will let you know for sure. But dont wait coz there are lots of people he knows and its likely to get sold.

^ Its not like body comes last :p. Getting a good body is equally important but you need to get lens of greater quality to justify the better body. If you are thinking of getting a DLSR to start with, 1000D is a brilliant cam and later on you can get a better body when you have enough moolah. :)

Hi Amit,

I have been using FZ35 from more than 7 months and so far the pics are really great!! Few +ve about SuperZoom FZ35 are:
-> Compact and easy to carry

-> Camera Cost is only 15 to 18k !

-> Zoom Range upto 32x (with 3MP) and 28x(with 5MP) !! with good IQ

-> Superb image Quality

-> No additional Lens required so no further money investment.

Also DSLR's have its own advantage:

-> Great Photos specially Portraits(with good Prime lens of 5k)

-> Even you take 5 pics for 1hr i am damn sure that those will come out very great than normal cameras

-> DSLR's have good shutter speed's so u can take more Blur free action photos easily with Excellent IQ.

-> Last but not least u can learn photography :) and learn how lense works.

few -ves abt DSLR's

-> have to Invest on Diff lenses for diff purposse(for long zoom u need TELEPHOTO Lens,for Macro u need Macro lens so on..)

-> Heavy bag to carry around with all lenses (1 or 2kg if you have 2 or more lense)

-> Have to be very careful in handling Lenses.

Based on these points (As per my understanding) u can decide which suites u best?
