A dumbed down 7D. If it was a metal body like the 50D, it'd make sense, at the price they want to sell it at.

Agreed, Ronnie! The feature set is just a cut above the 550D. For the price, one would purchase either a 550 OR a 7D, depending on their usage.

Original link not working,

some call it the new rebel series .
Unlike the excitement in sony and nikon camp, the canon launch has been met with exactly the opposite reaction.

Cause the camera has nothing revolutionary....

D3100 first Nikon with 1080p
Sony DSLRs first with HD movie recording and new SLT technology

60D --- Just a articulated screen added to a 550D sensor 18mp 4 channel unlike 8 channel 7D
1080p already there in 550D and 7D
Plastic body compared to magnesium alloy of 50D :(

In case of a new body, yes, the canon camp hasn't had a great year. But in terms of lenses, 70-300L, 8-15 etc. have made the campers happy, me included ;).

You are planning on spending $1500 on either the 70-300mm IS L or the 8-15mm f4 fisheye ???? :O

The prices on the internet are only MSRPs and haven't seen "official prices" as yet :P. And I am yet to convince myself to buy a zoom, so yeah, kind of a long shot :).

Even if you consider a good 30% reduction in MSRP, the 70-300mm IS L lens will cost a good $1000 or so.

Do you really wish to spend 1k for a sharp but slow lens or for a fisheye lens that works best with a FF camera ?
