hi guys... i want to buy a new digi cam... the above two are my options, budget is <12k... can u guys tell me the best among these two? :hap2:

Both have IS, but only the A720 has manual controls. If all you want in a camera is looks and good pictures without the need to learn more about photography then get the IXUS 80.

If however you want to learn as you go along clicking photos, then go with the A720 IS and slowly start using manual controls to get the picture the way you want it to come out and not the way the camera wants it to come out.

Hope that helps. But either way, with Canons image quality and IS (Image stabilization), you will still get decent shots.

^^ You are welcome. Go ahead with the A720 IS and start shooting with Auto mode first (the camera does everything automatically) and then move up to Programmed Auto (Camera still does most of the stuff automatically but allows you to control a few settings).

Once you learn Programmed Auto, your pics will start coming out much better.

And of course enjoy using your camera. :)

I believe if you get the A720IS from the grey market, it'd turn out a lot cheaper!

The US price is around 185$ .. so, I guess it would cost just around 8.5k in the grey mkt ..
