Hey guys want to buy a all in one printer, i am just confused between canon and hp.. i have already looked at the canon pixma mp145 which i am geting it for Rs 2950... but the problem with canon is that i have read some reviews & it seems to have a problem where the paper gets jammed error comes even when there is no paper in the machine lol.. another problem is if u lose the driver cd then it becomes quite diff to locate the driver on the net...

so bottom line is should i go for the hp & if yes which model?

Another thing to remember is that the refill cartridge should be available easily in the market..

Budget : Rs 3000

If there is any other model which is better then Canon of HP let me know....

Nah, not really.

To ensure the paper doesn't get jammed, make sure it doesn't have any folds and that you feed it properly.

Drivers are easily located on their website or other driver download sites.

The software needed will be to utilize the AIO's features.

Connecting the printer to a PC running Windows Xp & above should be fairly easy.

If you plan to re-fill the cartridges, get a HP all-in-one.

Be sure to get the re-filling done at a reliable place because there are chances of it ruining your printer's performance.

The older HP F4218 should have been replaced by a newer model.

Do check out the local availability.

Well lets say somewhere between 400-500 per year.. mostly black & white..

May be 50 color pages...

Damn, just saw the budget.

Decent AIOs start from 4K.

You might just be able to get the HP Deskjet F4288 for around 3.5K !

Canon AIO's do come with a higher capacity ink cartridge.

Not sure if the paper error on the MP145 is unit specific.

K thks for the info, i will see what price i get for the hp f4288... if its for 3.5k then might as well go for it.. as the refill is easily available for the hp...

Canon FTW. HP will rip you off with their cartridge pricing

I have an MP 160 which is similar. Paper has gotten stuck once or twice over the last few years, but nothing you can pull out and do again

Err.. how much do you pay for your Canon cartridges? I pay more if not the same as what HP sells theirs for :P

Yeah its under 3.5k.

Had the Canon MP-160. The printhead finally died and had to buy a new machine. Got the HP 4288 for 3.5K because one Sunday I found it was impossible to get Canon cartridges. HP was available all over.

not sure. I get them via dad via their office vendor. Its cartriges were cheaper than the HP ones when I bought it.:ashamed: I think vinchu has one too

Not really, both HP & Canon cartridges are priced at around 900 for B/W & around 1K for colour. Price difference varies among vendors though.

Canon's cartridges do have higher ink capacity(15ml) compared to HP(5ml).

Not sure if the newer ones are any different.

But the overall availability of HP cartridges is quite profound.

FYI, I've been using the Canon MP-180 for over a year now.

Overall experience has been great and the original cartridges have lasted long enough.(TW)

I think i will go with the hp ones just coz the refill's are easier to find... Mostly might get the HP F4488 or the HP F2488....
