I have a cannon S2 IS camera.I have just realised that my camera screen is turning Black. I see the display icons and everyother thing but i can't see the view.
Can anyone help me out with this problem or get me some shop which can help me repair it out.

Thanks.

Sorry but I hope that you have not chosen very high under exposure settings!

How do your pics come out? Also what about the EVF? Does it look okay?

No the blank screen problem is their in all the modes. The problem comes even in Auto mode.:(.

I researched the net and came to find out tht it is black screen of death problem.

if you are in mumbai this is canon service number 67605000. they do the job quite well.

I had the same problem with my S2 IS. When I found out that this is a widespread issue with this model, I approached the Canon service center. They charged me Rs 225 for the problem analysis and were demanding Rs 9700 for the actual repair. Naturally, I refused to get it repaired. I even wrote a letter to some people in Canon without getting any response. I don't have the full details right now (this happened in Jan 2008) but I can post them on Friday night or Saturday morning when I get back home.

sorry to hijack the thread @sanjukoli, but my prob is similar too.

how do we remove stuck pixels from a camera lcd screen? my cam got three black pixels right in the center of the screen. and if the canon service centre guys charge such exhorbitant prices i think its better to sell my cam and get a dslr like a nikon 60d or canon 1000d

Well I have the same problem on my trusty s50 which has been with me for the last 4 and a half years and took wonderful pictures.....dont know what to do now.

Try JJ Mehta in dadar, they repaired my S40 for 3k (lens unit crushed) a few years back when canon demanded 14k for the same. google JJ mehta and get the shop. Decent chaps and value.

Would still suggest you call up jj mehta and speak to them. If the cost difference seems worth it, have it sent across to someone in mumbai and get it fixed here.

Ofc do check with canon local service centre(s) first.
