which digital camera to buy?

Canon SX100 or A720IS?

budget is Rs. 10,000 ($250) from Newegg or the Gray Market

i never used more than ISO-200 :S

but if it is such a major issue then are SD850IS & SD870IS good?

or shall i buy SX100 or A720IS?

or shall i look towards something else?
 
The SX100 is a decent digital camera, checked it out a while ago... good enough for daily use. As TechHead said, get the cheapest one.
 
as per reviews, the SX100 video quality sucks but the pic quality is supposedly better then the S5 IS, so its a good option IMO. Check SX100 reviews on the net, they usually do compare it to the S5.
 
Congrats Udit. The SX100 IS is a good cam. Hope you got the black colour. There was a problem mentioned with the flash recycling times in a review though. But I don't think it should be a problem with better batteries.

ya got the black one :D

the review said flash recycling times is a problem with weak batteries thus i got a 4 battery charger with 4 batteries :)

as per steves digicam review (at least that was the one...i think :ashamed:)

the pic quality on the SX100 is better but the video quality on the S5 is way better......else just say the one on the sx100 is crap :P

well i saw a sample of a video taken from SX100 & it looked great

More irritating is the downfeatured movie capture mode. It does VGA, 30fps movies, but optical zoom doesn't work while shooting them, and the nice separated stereo mics of the S3 and S5 have been replaced with mono sound.

Mind you, i still say its a great camera, cos it takes great pics and thats most imp :D just that the video mode is a bit cut down from that on the S5 (no optical zoom n no stereo sound recording).

true but SX100 fitted my families requirements (good performance in a small size) perfectly thus could not but my dream digicam (S5 IS) :(
 
nah..this ones fine :d

i cud think bout gettin the s5 too..but frankly, i wud never use even half those features :P so why bother..i never bother with all those manual controls n stuff. for someone who knows wat hes doin, its fine. for others, its jus a waste ;)
