hey guys.. thanx for helping me out in the graphics card section.. am really gr8ful to all u folks for giving soo many opinions in such a short time.. what card did i decide to get finally?? hmm... let dat be a secret :P
meanwhile.. i need some more help from u techies.
i happen to have a Nokia 7610 which i got quite some months back
i was using the usb cable thats bundled with the package all this time for data transfer to n from the phone using the nokia pc suite.. everything was working fine, till i decided to get a new bluetooth dongle. now i went shopping with my buddy Rahul n got a TechCom USB Bluetooth dongle.. the guy from whose shop i got it said that they all use the same thing over there, and its pretty good.. its the same place from which i took my 2 previous cell fone's. pretty reliable the place being, i trusted the guy n took the dongle home, only to find that my operating system gave me the message "USB Device not Recognised. one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise this device."
now, i tried installing it in about a 1000 possible ways, but it simply refused to install.. so i tried it on a few of my friends computers, including Rahul's, on which it worked. one of my friends has the same mobo as me.. ala ASUS A7N266-VM. that guy had his os displaying the same msg as well.. now i was in a fix, i thought maybe its cuz im not running SP2, so i formatted my drive, reinstalled XP with SP2, and then tried installing it, but no avail... again the same error :@ so i thought maybe its incompatible with my system, i went back n got a new dongle, same make n model, only to find that it was giving the same msg again :@ :@ so i managed to sell it to a frnd of mine who needed a dongle  and it worked perfectly on his system :@ how crappy is that huh... neways.. with the cash register re-filled, me went back to town to get a new dongle, and came back with a new dongle of Billionton, the same make n model of the dongle that Rahul has, hoping it wud work on my system, as his dongle does work on mine.. but alas.. even this gave the same msg as well :@ now what shud i do yaar... aint this irritating?? :@ :@ :@
so does neone know why is this happening?? if yes, please drop in a few replies.. thanx for taking the time to read this looong n boring thread of mine.. really appreciate it :)

Dude... the Asus A7N266-VM doesnt have bluetooth support plain and simple. One of my computers has the same motherboard and i faced the same problem, but the same device works just fine on my other computers. There is no point getting irritated.. :P

I either use the USB cable or use the other computers to Sync my phone, there is nothing much else that you can do.

I have also tried the ASUS website, there is no Bios or firmware upgrades to the motherboard.

If you think you have enough dough, you can try changing the motherboard though.

We are in the sameboat dude!

Bluetooth dongle is connected with USB ...... so every motherboard with a USB port is capable of connecting bluetooth dongle ...

wat do u mean by support for bluetooth ....

I am not sure if that is the Case Rahul. Older MoBo's do not have propah support for bluetooth - as in, most of them fail to recognize a bluetooth device.

This is not an isolated case, I have seen other computers not recognizing bluetooth dongles, they dont seem to be having a problem with IR, but Bluetooth seems like a whole different story.

And what I have told Sourav is out of my own experience.

If you can get me any additional information on this - it would be of help Rahul. And Thanks a lot for pointing the flaw out. :hap2:

@soulweaver->

thanx for replying buddy.. but i disagree with the thing u said.. that A7N266-VM is incapable of supporting bluetooth devices.. cuz i am currently using Rahul's dongle for performing every bluetooth activity that can be performed.. it works fine.. no problems at all. i think the problem is something else.. thanx for replying neways :)

@Soul - I don't think that's the case really, like Rahul said all you need is a USB port. The dongle then acts like any USB flash drive or a USB cable, all it does it transmit data like all other USB drives, all bluetooth activity is done by the dongle.

This is wierd case really, if Rahul's Bt dongle worked and you bought the same make, which then doesn't work....

did you try connecting to a different USB port??

Don't know if it'll work but i think its try - Try connecting the dongle to a USB hub. Or something like a hub with has its own powersource and doesn't steal it from the CPU.

Also try borrowing Rahul's BT dongles back to see if it works again...if not, somethings just fried up.

Er.. Rahul.. can I borrow your dongle too?

I tried a million Bluetooth Dongles and two A7M266 MoBos and nothing worked. So i decided that there is something wrong with the MoBo itself. Can you tell me the make of your Dongle.. It would be great to get bluetooth to work on this one too...

afaik.. what ph ur using might me compatibility issue with ur phone,
i am sure it will work install the ivt bluesoil and it will definitely work check if the usb enabled in bios.

i know this may sound very very lame
have u installed the drivers from the CD???

& @ soul : my old celeron system ~7 yrs old..with a PCI to USB controller....was able to run any USB device,,,INCL the bluetooth....ofcourse with the right drivers..

@everyone->thanx for chipping in with ur suggestions.. really appreciate it :)

@x86-> the TECHCOM dongle i got was the same one u have just suggested.. but that dint work, and neither did it work properly on Rahul's system. But dunno about what compatibility issues u talking about.

@girishvkraj-> lolzz... well. the thing is, i dint have to, cuz it directly said "windows does not recognise this device". so no matter how hard i tried, but it wudnt recognise it :( and btw, yes i did try installing the drivers from the cd :p

if neone else has any other suggestions, wud love to hear it.. thanx again.. :)
