Hey guys. This might sound strange, but, is there any way I could record what is being displayed on the television screen with a Canon Powershot SX 100 IS?

The last time I tried it, the video showed a lot of scan lines (well...how to describe it) ... horizontal lines/bands moving from top to bottom of the screen.

Are there any advanced settings in the camera that may enable me to record the video just like a capture with TV Card? Its just a one-off recording that I want to do, and also, I don't have any $$ to buy a TV Card :ashamed:.

The TV is an LG LCD getting feed from a Dish DTH, if that's relevant.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Your camera capture rate is faster than the tv's refresh rate. slow down your camera a bit and try again. Keep slowing your camera's capture rate until the tv's refresh rate is faster.

But you can change camera's capture rate while taking pics only.

So you ll have to bear with those lines or get a tv tuner card.

you can try going away a little from the tv set till the lines disappear. if shooting from far off, see if the video zoom function helps to keep the tv screen in range.
