PC Peripherals CARputer or something else?

a friend of mine picked up a new car and his main concern is to play all his music from his hard drive and have a gps system on the car.
i suggested him a carputer with a touch screen for his music. what about the gps? are there any other alternatives apart from a full blown pc???

can someone shed some light for me over here? im quite new to car systems. how does the power supply work on a car system, and the other general basics of a car computer.

Have you cosidered about car's warranty before recommending Carputer. Company Service centers make lots of FUSS about after market installed Stereos then how come you believe they'll not say anything for a full fledge carputer.

I would suggest to stay after till warranty is there, later on materialize the dream.
