CDMA sim ? .. :S

My bro gave me a reliance sim card...& asked me to get it working for him. He told that it's CDMA sim .. . :| .
I had thought that cdma nos are tied with a particular handset..:/
any recomendations? .. how can i get this working with gsm carriers?..(possible?)
or cheapest solution to getting it run on reliance cdma handset? ..

Just goto reliance world and get a basic handset, around 1300 or so. Pop the CDMA sim inside it and you are done

can i get a 3rd party cell phone ? .. like not from Reliance ? .. directly from market & use it ? .. any unlocks / etc would be required?
