My 900'th post so thought why not post some good 1 :) :ohyeah: .

The free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions. Celestia runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.

Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy.

All movement in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit.

Celestia is expandable. Celestia comes with a large catalog of stars, galaxies, planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and spacecraft. If that's not enough, you can download dozens of easy to install add-ons with more objects.

damn good stuff darky...now i need to go hunting for tht pioneer space probe which has left our solar system and is supposedly the first man made object to do so and the farthest man made object from mother earth...;)

Hey but i have a question, is it updated regularly? I mean, the positions of planets, natural and artificial satellites and spacecrafts keep changing..so are their positions updated accordingly?

I think it is updated at a fixed interval of time. The Celestia provide bigger Library of Stars and all over Steralium :D so you wont have prob. regarding ups:bleh:

I found this yrs ago, maybe when i upgrade my rig to something more modern, u know like accelerated graphics card and CPU to match. I'm on a P3, dont play games, and otherwise eveything else i need works just fine.

Othewise, that app is *SOLID*

Yep its 1 one of the best planetarium software and its very cool. Just give it a try and you won't like switching to any other program :bleh:

Using this for a while now and honestly you will get hooked to it if you are interested in astronomy.

@ Dark Star : M8 its nice to see you post these softwares and other news.

But please don't just post the direct download link. Take care that you give credits to creator of the software and link to their home page.

Here is the link for Celestia : Celestia: Home
