my dad's been using a Nokia 3310 for the last 5 years(he got it for like 12k then) and is now looking for a new mobile.his budget is 20k max.
his priorities are:
1.atleast 1000 phonebook capacity(the more the better,maybe 2000+)
2.voice clarity,since he is on the cell all the time.
3.good talktime and battery life.
4.easy of use,he's got long fingers and so the buttons should be easy to push.
5.camera(VGA is ok) and FM radio(not so important,but good if its there).he doesnt care abt mp3 playaback or any entertainment or email functions.
he's a great fan of Nokia having used one for so many years now.so please suggest some Nokia models(and 1-2 from other companies also).
well,seeing his needs i dont think he needs to spend 20k and i suggested the Nokia 6600 to him.
what do you think?
 
^naa not possible with the new gen k750i's...also that was for sms not phonebook :( , better get one of the n series ... the additional apps such as pdf & office file reader available for them would be quite useful.
 
u suggested a 6600 :O ... where have u been living :p

for 20k.. and what fits ur dad's requirments would be N70,72,71, 5500, E60 , look into 6131 and 6233 as well,

as you have mentioned you have 20K budget you can go for either one of these
3230, a decent screen res., memory,performance and a 1.3 Mpix cam, but hye, a lil smaller keypad.
6600 a very famous model....
7610 a better option i suppose, i personally used it. a good performance, better screen than 3230, good keybad and s shaped looks. one more model is there which looks smiliar to 7610, i think its 6730. you check that out.
and there are other models from Sony Eric,Panasonic,Samsung....which i dont know with model numbers,

doesnt matter...6600 is outdated and a crappy phone.. I'll suggest the 3230 over it :P[ i hate the 3230,i find it the most useless phone , hanging phone made by Nokia :P]

he doesnt need any of this stuff.he doesnt even need Bluetooth for that matter.
his requirements are only those i mentioned and nothing more.
i know the 6600 is old,but i think its good enough for what his needs are;i feel just because he is willing to spend 20k doesnt mean he needs to.he wont even use half of the functions of N-series phones,they would be a complete waste.
well,this is my point of view...please post your comments.
also,has Nokia launched any phones similar to 6600 recently?what about the 6070?
 
instead of 6600 take 6630. it has faster processor, so less hanging problems. 1.3Mpx camera, stereo mp3 playback, wide viewing angle for LCD, hot swap RS MMC support, EDGE and 3G. it costs ~11.5K. dont go for 3230 and 6600 as they have slower processors.

you will not regret with 6630.

hey, the slower proccy helps tremendously with the battery life....

I had a 3230, got a 6630, then went back to the 3230 as there is a very noticeable difference betweenthe battery life , esp. if you use the PIM functions or any Symbian Apps
 
or if you want ease of use without symbian 6230i is good phone with 1.3mpx camera, MMC card, mp3 player, EDGE, Bluetooth, slim 99grams only
 
well ok

Great phonebook = symbian

u need good voice clarity = nokia

great buttons= e50 (personally I think it is the best) and 6233

N70 and N72 keypads are small, m600 lacks camera

if u can live without FM then get E50, I know most fathers love it ;)
 
N70, it has S60 but slower when compared to 6233 , even though 6233 has just 6Mb internal memory it will perform faster.. due to S40
