If anyone has a CFI A-8989 cabinet please answer my question listed below.

-Does it support a Normal ATX Power Supply

I need to know this because i will be purchasing a 8400GS PCI and also the cabinet for an Intel Atom Setup.

BTW how much max power does a 8400GS PCI card draw?

Thanks
hariharan

I see that your query wasn't answered in this thread - http://www.techenclave.com/pc-peripherals/cfi-mini-itx-case-pictures-131517-2.html

Anyways, it does not support a normal ATX form factor power supply but a SFF one. A 8400GS does not consume so much power that you actually need to invest in a separate power supply. The 8400GS consumes about ~30W on full load.

But do not count on that bundled power supply if you intend to use the system continuously for prolonged hours such as a download rig. In which case, you are better off with another SFF power supply or another enclosure which supports normal ATX form factor power supplies.

I have the CFI-A6719, think it uses the same PSU as the Cube. Anyway the efficiency of the bundled PSU is not that great. Even on Standby it seems to use about 5-8w according to APC PowerChute. And my complete Atom Rig with a 1.5TB WD Green uses about 50-55w.

If you can get more efficient SFF PSU, then go for the CFI Cube otherwise look for some other case.

Tell me in Worst Cases how much maximum power can the Atom D510+ 8400GS take?

My uncle will be using the system for Surfing, watching videos(flash) and HD 720p, listening to music and reading ebooks.

That's all.

Thanks for your reply.

^It is not an issue of the maximum power draw but if the PSU will be able to provide clean and efficient power consistently without hiccups - you certainly do not want the PSU to die on you when your uncle is watching a movie or browsing the internet do you? There has been no mention of the UL number on the power supply so it is not possible to trace the OEM of the power supply.

If it is not absolutely essential to bank on this enclosure, I'd say look for another one with a decent ATX PSU. :)

I really liked this enclosure.

I will get the 8400GS later this year from U.S.

BTW a last question.

What is the size of the SFF PSU in Wx Hx L?

Thanks.

TBP it is called a TFX (thin form factor) power supply (just did a bit of searching in Google).

Seasonic has a 300W TFX power supply with the dimensions - 175 mm x 85 mm x 70 mm. I am not sure if this is the standard for power supplies in SFF enclosures though.

There are good PSUs from Local Brands too.

One such example is Circle 400 Watts which costs about Rs.700-1000

I feel that is more than sufficient and also the price is pretty decent.
