ChatGPT Plus: Can We Share a Subscription?

Hey, guys.

I am planning to get ChatGPT Plus, as it has become a bit of productivity booster for my needs.

Though the cost is higher than it is in the US, and ₹2,000 per month feels pretty costly, especially considering PPP.

I was thinking of getting a single subscription account and share it with a few friends and family members to average the cost.

I have a few questions for you:

1. Do you have the subscription?
2. Did you find the subscription worthwhile?
3. Have you ever shared the subscription account with any other user, especially on another device?
4. If yes, then did you face any issue?
5. Would you recommend anyone else to get a subscription?

1. I haven't used ChatGPT Plus, but got perplexity pro which has gpt-4o access. Got it for 5$ because of the (black friday?)promotion last month.
2. For ~400 INR, it was worthwhile because of the 300 pro search limit. With the free plan it was only 3 or 5 pro searches.
3. Nope

5. Yeah, but only if you actually need it, not worthwhile for 2k IMHO, 20$ is the usual price for perplexity pro.

Perplexity has lower context window with gpt-4o and is better suited for research rather than creative prompts. Though it's better than 4o mini, You also get Claude and grok with it.
Currently perplexity is running a free 1 month offer on Google Play Store, it runs out in ~20 hours from now.

tldr; get the free plan for the month and try it out, experiment with paying for AI later

Hey, thank you so much for your response.

Perplexity Pro seems like a good option.

Is there anyway to get discount on it now, apart from first month free?

I used chatGPT Pro with my friend for a month and had many issues when we used it together. Many times, the interface would get stuck on generating the response and sometimes chats just wouldn't load. However, some people seem to be able to share chatGPT without much trouble (from what I've heard). Its possible that what I experienced has been fixed ever (its been around 8 months or so). You could take the gamble for a month and see if it works without any issues.

Edit: Just to clarify, many times the interface wouldn't load even if the other person wasn't using it for quite a while. This could be intended behavior from OpenAI or just bad system design.

Hey. Happy new year. I listened to your advice. I am using Perplexity Pro one month trial. So far it is working well for two users.
