PC Peripherals Cheap and reliable DVD-R/+R media ?

What is the best and cheap media for around Rs 20 max per disc i.e you find reliable ? I am using writex media @ rs 14/ disc for regular burning, and Moser baer for important backup.

Is nex-gen , princo , and rainbow media any good if youve heard of them ? i saw them selling for Rs 12/disc in spindles.
 
i get princo dvd-r for 16 from lamington and a sidey brand called 'burn' for 12 bucks in andheri.

both work well. :)

Whoa! Taiyo Yuden blanks for 12 bucks? That's quite crazy, top quality media this cheap?

Cowax, use DVDinfo and do a Pi/Po scan on a TY DVD you just burned and post a screenshot please? Thanks.

neways, ur Pi/Po commin up, jus d/ling DVDinfo, got a crappy connec.
 
Also, can you post the media manufacturing codes that are printed on the disc in the centre transparent ring? And if the packaging/disc states where the media was manufactured..taiwan/japan/india...btw is it +R or -R ? 4x or 8x? blue colored top? im getting a little excited here....
 
lol...i tried doing a Pi/Po test with my NEC ND-2510, but it says 'revision 2R8 atleast is required' and no test can be done. I'm on version 2.15 (NEC 2510)

anyways...regarding other Q's... the top of the disc says nothing stating if its a dvd-r/+r, but scans and snooping really dep inside one of the rings, it shows dvd-R 4.7GB

the dvd is 8x, and burns good at 8x, i got 10 dvds at 12rs/e cuz i wasnt sure abt the brand,...burnt 4 till now, ...no coasters yet !!

burnt a video dvd, divx movies (works on my phillips divx player) and also burnt a ps2 game. all working good !!

and theres one code engraved on the inside.... "DVD-R8XPN5634"

Fake Taiyo Yuden confirmed. BEWARE!

If the discs are true Taiyo Yuden media, the packaging should be marked "Made in Japan". Take a look at the discs, authentic TYG02 will have a serial number printed near the hub with two G letters or TG included.

Okay, detective work continues. We were talking abt the individual disc codes on each disc centre inner transparent layer..

Post a closeup pic of the disc. Also, can you describe the box it was in, or was it just plastic wrapped? Or was it TAPE-wrapped?
 
i just upgraded my nec 2510 firmware from 2.15 to 2.18, and still cant do the Pi/Po with DVDinfo.

hmmm, the serials on all dvds seem to be the same..."DVD-R8XPN5634"
nothing else, i know wht ur talking abt, but its not there, just this engraved, NOT printed
yea and all the dvds were in a 100 spool/spindle, and the guy was selling em loose.

its no point to play detective. the media is 12rs. it will be fake ty media. even if it was original ty media & gave good scans i still wont buy it cause its 12rs & there will be something fishy

This for sureis a Fake TY, but then a 12 Rs media might not ncessairily be bad...

I had picked up a bunch of generic Taiwanese media called Konco for 15/- a piece...And got the best ever burns on them ...son't rem' it now, but the PI e avg in the range of 3-10 and PI f avg of >0.1..usually b/w 0.02-0.06 ...Better than the Moser Baers and even TDK...Unfortunately, I could never find em again..If i could, i'd pick up a full spindle..
 
I'd rather not. The problem is not the immediate scan after the burn. Its a scan after 2~3 mths that'll show u how good a disc is. MBI's burnt in my 1673s sucked in scans after 2 months but this is excusable since all Lite-Ons don't go well with MBI's. So its Sony for me now. Gotta try Maxell - Found a box at Ritchie 10 days back for the first time.

Let me try doing a rescan of those Konco's tonight ..It's been a couple of months now..I had also burnt a bunch of MBIs at arnd the same time, so should get a clearer picture now...Let me try both and post back

BTW the Ritchie street vendors seem all gung-ho abt a media called Scorpio...I got rather pathetic burns with them though
